Guys
We will be putting new body bushings all the way around our 69, some of the supports are pretty rusted and eat away we will be repairing them, question is were they flat when they were new or concaved as they are now and is useing a large washer welded in a good fix?

Thanks for the help

69dad,
They make a repair kit with steel plate panels already cut for proper fit and function for your car. I think they're between 50 and 100 bucks. Or you can do like I did before the panels were available and make your own out of steel plate. The 69 Camaro chassis Service manual has all the dimensions to you get them tacked into the proper positions for center to center hole spacing.

Save your $ and make your own. I bought enough for several cars for about $7. The kits are overpriced. Try a search, too. There's more than you would imagine on this site. Good luck.

I repaired mine with big, thick washers I got at the True Value hardware store. I found some with the correct inside ID and then bought a hole saw that was just a touch smaller than the outside OD. I clamped a piece of wood underneath the mount so I had something for the center bit in the hole saw to register into and drilled the holes out. A little work with the die grinder gave me a perfect interference fit and then I welded them into place. I ground the welds flat and primed and painted them up. So far - 10 years later they still look great.

If you go with the washers - keep in mind that most of them will be galvanized. The weld fumes off galvanized metal are supposed to be toxic plus it doesn't weld very good - so I ground it off around the outside weld area.
