No, not "that" word....Scam. It HAS to be. Take a look at this craigslist ad:

http://bgky.craigslist.org/cto/800946010.html

Now, I email the guy, and he informs me he's in Arizona. So why list it in Kentucky? AND AT THAT RIDICULOUSLY-LOW PRICE !?

Either a scam, or the best-missed opportunity of a lifetime. Wish I wasn't so pessimistic  I'll stick with scam.

(Oh, here we go...Now it's gettin' thick:)

My brother is in St Joseph's Hospital & Med Center ( Phoenix, AZ ) where he had some medical investigations 2 weeks ago. Last week we found out he has cancer. I'm in the process of moving my brother to Eastern Regional Medical Center in PA where they gave us some hope. I want to sell the car and shipp ASAP it because I want to be able to concentrate on my brother's problem.Usually I would allow you to come here and inspect the car but now because of my busy schedule and because of the problems that I have with my brother it's impossible. For the moment I have some buyers ready to go ahead through Yahoo! Finance, as you don't want to use this service I'll contact you only if I'll not sell the car to one of them.
I'll let you know!
Joseph

(notice how St.Joseph is in a smaller font? Probably just found that on the web to make it look legit, and then pasted it. Okay guys, what's my next question for him? I'll play along!)

I have had a few of my graiglists ads end up on ebay by other people.
Also almost all scams with these cars are 5800.00. Its almost as if they scam someone for more it is a stiffer penality or something!

I just replied to him:

Joseph - I'm really sorry to hear about your brother. Cancer is a horrible thing. I understand you want to commit all of your time to him during this struggle. I would like to offer to you not $8500, like you're asking, but $14,243 instead. I think you are under duress, and you weren't asking enough to begin with. I'm prepared to offer you much more, and in cash in person! I can be on a jet first thing in the morning, as I am an airline Captain, and have unlimited travel privlidges. Would you be able to pick me up at the airport in the Camaro? That would be swell. Please let me know if this works for you, and tell your brother to fight the good fight, okay? Thanks - Mark

Well, it's been 30 minutes since I've heard from my Camaro friend...So I sent him another email:

Joe - I have not heard back from you in 20 minutes. I am therefore, upping my offer for the 1969 Camaro, to ONE MILLION DOLLARS. I really want that car! Please let me have it.
I keep my finances off-shore to avoid paying taxes. I will contact my banker in Aruba immediately to transfer the ONE MILLION DOLLARS into your account. Please give me your name and account number where you want the money transfered to. Time is of the utmost importance, as your brother is critical. You MUST spend every remaining minute with him!

Please advise your brother, also, to get a second opinion. It has been discovered that doctors do unnecessary procedures to make money. Your brother may be perfectly healthy for all you know. How do I know this, you ask? Well, before becoming an airline Captain, I graduated medical school at the prestigious ITT medical university in Abuja, which we all know is the captial of Nigeria. I graduated 3rd in my class (out of 5). But that's not important. What is important is your brother's health. That is imperative. I know a doctor who specializes in cancer treatment therapy. He has allowed me to distribute his products at his cost. That's right! I can ship a year's supply of cancer-cleansing vitamins to you at wholesale cost. If you would like to try some for your brother, let me know, and I will just deduct the cost of them from the ONE MILLION DOLLARS I will be wiring to you. Keep me posted on your brother's health.

Mark

They had it listed on Buffalo Craigslist too:

I'm selling my 69 CHEVY CAMARO RS 327, It has no scratches, no damages, no hidden defects. It is in imaculate condition and has never been involved in any accident. The engine runs good, the paint looks good, garage kept. It comes with all the documents needed for registration, it has a clear title and it can be registred into your name at any time. I'm located in Laveen, AZ and the car is here as well. I am willing to sell it for $5800 (Free Delivery in enclosed trailer within 500 mile radius). I can help you with shipping in US continental for low shipping fees. Need zip code to calculate shipping fees. I want to use Yahoo! Finance for this transaction. This service allows us to complete the transaction in a manner that is quick and safe for both of us. It acts as a third party between seller and buyer to insure that the Buyer receives the item and the Seller receives the payment, I'll try to provide all the details about the car and the transaction,
Joseph Smith
PS: I can send pictures if you are interested.

They had an ad in the Norman Transcript, same thing, 69 Camaro. Most of these are posted by people outside the US, IMO. They are probably not very easy to prosecute. One time I answered one of these offers by responding, that I had money, but it is in California. And because times were tough I asked them to send me $250 for gas so I could go get the money. Another thing that is funny when they ask for 5800 USD. Like we use anything but USD's. Usually they post a pic of an immaculate car. One guy claimed he was a US Navy guy, based somewhere in Europe. I checked and there was not even a base where he said he was. Scammers always want to us Yahoo FInance as well.

Its not mine but VERY close. that one is a 327 with standard air cleaner, mine is 350 with cowl hood. Also the pic near the water is different but very close to mine. phew... not mine but still a scam I think.

I looked but one of my fovorite sites seems to be down or gone. It was called 419 eater.com, or some such. It's for winter blizzard-fun. It's all for the sport of sending these thieves on silly tasks and to get them to send pictures of themselves being stupid and wearing signs around their neck telling the world that they're idiots, or have the clap, or,,,, you get the idea. Great sport. I meant to get into it but I found this site.
