Has anyone used the "Ididit" steering column and how do you like it?
It is my understanding that if I get one for my 67, I will need an adapter for the steering wheel, because most after market wheel only fit 69 and up. Who has the best prices? Are there others brands that are a bigger bang for the buck. My favorite color is Chrome.
I also plan on a third gen. steering box.
:beers:

I'm using the polished aluminum Ididit tilt column in my 67.

It was a complete bolt-in. Any aftermarket or factory steering wheel fits mine with the appropriate adapter. (I'm using a Budnik billet wheel)

The only thing I had to do was use a smaller diameter firewall clamp.

I got mine directly from Ididit. They are great folks to work with. It was about $600 as I recall.

(I'm using a rack and pinion and got the "Double D" style shaft.)

The "rebuilt" original tilt column that I bought from Rick's a couple of years ago was junk. And the one that they replaced it with (which took a couple of months to get) was junk too. Either buy an unmolested original and rebuild it yourself (if needed), or go with the Ididit.

I was wondering if you have the part number of the firewall clamp you're talking about! I'll have to order that soon. Thanks~

I used shim stock to build up the stock clamp, it doesn't take much. The Ididit clamp I ordered wouldn't work without a bunch of work.

I should have been clearer about that.

I have a tilt aluminum in my '67. The only reason why I put it in was bc I upgraded to a rack about 3-4 years ago. That was a big mistake. The rack is unisteer and it blows. I need to call them back and get them to work something out with me. Currently, if I try to drive my car in a circle, it would probably take the whole wal-mart parking lot. haah.

I cant remeber my manuf. name, its not ididit, oh, flaming river. It is nice. I have a grant replica wheel, the walnut one on it. Whatever you do, mount the column before playing with the tilt feature. Want to know how I know? I had to send mine back because mine got broke bc me and my dad were excited and wanted to see what it would look like once we got it in the car.

Reguarding rebuilding of columes i need a couple of parts that classic cant supply they are bearing at box end of colume & plastic coller retainer type thing at box end of colume.i would love to keep oem colume instead of going the aftermarket way.. Any help would be great cheers
