I just bought a 68 convertible with SS emblems and 327 emblems? I know they did not make a 327 SS but I do have a 12 bolt rear end, dual leaf springs and the brake proportioning valve. I think this means it's a SS or had the rare L30/M20 option. Does anyone know what it is?

Welcome aboard Scott, I'd say the first thing to check regarding a '68s originallity is the engine numbers. Check the block, there's a pad in front of the passenger side head. There'll be 2 sets of numbers. Does the partial VIN stamped there match the cars VIN ?? What is the engine suffix code?

As cool as the L30/M20 is;), I wouldn't say they're all that rare....not around here anyway:)

Thanks for the welcome! I already checked the numbers and I know the motor is not the original. The block is a 3892657 which I believe is a 67' but it was used for the 302, 327 and 350 engines. As best as I can tell, the suffix is a HF, but that seems to be a 69' suffix code. The HF is hard to read, I'm working on that. My real question is about the 12 bolt rear end, the multi leaf springs and the brake valve. Does this mean SS?
