Hi everyone. I've been a lurker for quite sometime and have read countless hours on here. Great forum! anyways back to my post. I have stumbled across a DZ short block forsale. It was rebuilt 10-15 years ago and never ran,it has been sitting ever since. 3956618 block domed factory pistons. 1178 crank been turned. 2482 caps with windage tray.... no pictures yet but i am trying to get some from the seller.... what is this thing worth? thanks Mike

Need more info. What is the engines bore? Any sleeves? What has the crank been turned? What is the stamp on the block?

I am still trying to find out more info from the seller on this short-block. He is supposed to send me some pictures sometime this week. When he does i will try to post them so you all can see. Is there anything else i should ask the seller for? or about? Thanks

Just make sure the pictures are very clear with respect to the stampings and ask if he has the paperwork from the machine shop.

well i got an email back from the seller ... here is what he says....

3956618
c219
632
618

build date 3-21-1969

standard bore
10m 20r crank

serial number is legible. will get it to you. it is not stamped dz-however many engine shops say not all dz blocks had the dz tamped on them.

so... what do you guys think so far??? any input would be great.thanks again... so far no pics from him.

They were and if he can't show you the factory DZ stamp, don't pay any more then you would for a 350 build up.

It could be a CE block. Or did he say it has no suffix code at all ? I would think it's worth a little more than a comparable 350 simply because it has a 302 crank but the block itself is nothing special.
I would pass on a crank that was already 010 020.
