ECT sensor ref. sig. voltage is 2.5 volts

I have a 95 Z28 with the 5.7L engine. The temperature gauge has been reading below 185 degrees F, which seems low to me. So in doing resistance checks, I decided to check the reference voltage that my book say's should be about 5 volts. It was only 2.49 volts. What would cause this, and how do I fix it?

do you have a code for low or high voltage. in mitchell voltage should be 1.5 -2.5 volts. if your take sensor out and measure resistance it should go up or down as you heat it up.

Whoops, the gauge was reading 185 degrees. Haynes says about 5 volts. I think it may be working correctly. Resistance does change.
