Ok guys I agree there's more to it than just the power under the hood, or it's rating for that matter. I understand about having a complete package. My wife's LS1 GTO is fun to drive because it's a well balanced car. I hope the new Camaro gets a better manual trans and clutch system than they current 6 speed. Pretty sad GM would build something like this and then throw in weak synchros and add restrictors to the clutch lines to prevent them from working correctly.
The Mustang is a great car, we bought a 35th aniversary model in 99. Bought it while it was still on the truck, two other couples wanted it as well, but we saw it first and took it home. It was a great car. I've rented a few of the next gen and they are a very nice car. I just think the new model could offer a little more power than they are. Sounds like most of you feel it's adequate, I'm just not in agreement. Like I said the LS1 in the GTO rated at 350 hp to me still needs more power to really be an impressive ride, far from hanging on and shouting holy *t! I don't see where the Mustang will do any better rated at 315.
I hope John is considering the Mustang II years when he says they ruled the streets for 45 years. But then again the II was going up against 145 hp 350 Camaros and 175 hp Z28 and 190 hp 454. Doesn't take too much to dominate that kind of unbridled power! LOL!
Bottom line is I like the Ford products, I've had great luck with them, that's why I own 3 currently.
When I slam her sideways in the road and all you hear is screaming tires and that engine hitting about 5800 rpms (winding up very quickly), Oh sh1t IS a decent response.

It may not be as fast as the LS1 GTO, but it gives me a nice rush, and frankly, I'm surprised that ANY American car company is still building a rear wheel drive car that resembles the cars we "used" to drive back in the 60s, in an affordable package. The Vettes' will always be there, but out of reach to a lot of consumers. The Challengers are nice too, and I was a few signatures away from owning one of those.
Regardless what a person's "brand" is, we should all be thankful that the new cars are not some gunked up rebadged crap trying to be passed off as old school muscle.
I hope the Camaro seals the deal and puts the fun back in the old Saturday night cruise.

I am happy with the Mustang. It may not be the fastest car out there, or even the best handling, but it is fun to drive, and I know how to drive it. I don't get too excited about going fast in a straight line. I usually find myself alone when the road takes a turn or two. I'm not a road racer (but I may give it a little extra every now and again on the right road).
