I just bought a 1980 camaro. with 350 turbo tranny. guy told me the tranny leaked around the tranny pan due to a recently installed chrome pan bought from eckler.com he said due to the pa being so thick, that a rubber gasket shouldnt be used cause it wouldnt conform to the new pan. that a special cork gasket would have to be installed. that part stores didnt carry them. a performance shop would most likley have it. well I drove the car home and parked it, it leaked a crap load of fluid in shop. I took the car to local mechanic shop and they said it had 2leaks one from pan other from a O-ring. pan had a crack in it they said:confused: go figure was suppose to be a new pan to begin with. but anyway the ordered a brand new pan and installed it replaced the O-ring and used a cork gasket. they called said it wasnt leaking. so I paid them took it home and it was leaking as if no work was ever done. its comin from pan area. front seal isnt leaking. its comin from drivers side of pan. any ideas of what this is?

I second the shift shaft seal, mine was just replaced, it was an in-car repair it took the guy about 15 minutes on my 68 camaro

In order to confirm that it is your Shifter Shaft O'Ring. You may want to wrap a scott tower around the shaft overnight (or for a couple days if you don't drive the car).

I did this on mine and did confirm that it was my souce of leak.

Good Luck.
