I had them on my 67 SB. I thought they were great but didn't compare at the drags.
Supposed to increase torque, make larger tube headers act like smaller tube in the mid range. It seemed to work for me.
There is a special pairing of the tubes that makes them work. I don't think they would work right with just any header design.

Seems that I recall that the point of these is to be able to change the scavage pipe order going from four to two as well as increase tube length, then also to play with the collector volume and length?? But may be off here.

One way the pipes are turned puts two pipes together to aid torque whereas the other way, horsepower. Like if they are this way, "II", (vertical) vs this way, "=", (horizontal). If you have a set of headers and the collector in hand you will see what I mean...

You are actually pairing primary pipes differently between the two locations, and this aids t or hp. (I think??).. pdq67

Are we talking about Tri-Y headers?

If so, I have found these do add noticable torque. In my opinion, they didn't help, or maybe hurt, the top end. Could be wrong.

It's like a tri Y.
But all in the collector. Primaries go from four to two pairs of two, to one collector. The two pairs of two are about four inches long, and the pairs are a far apart in firing order as possible.
The collector is slightly longer than a normal one and they used to have a collector extension that belled out to a larger dia. Made LOTS of noise uncapped!

I have a set of hooker super comps. I plan on upgrading my exhaust from my headers on. Right now I have 1 3/4" headers which I propblably will keep. From the headers I have a 2.25" exhaust to 2.5" tails. I plan to upgrade to 2.5" all the way back. If I do this should I incorporate these 4-2-1 collectors?

Davidpozzi - what headers were you running? and what do you mean they did'nt compare at the drags?

I had the Hedman hedders that came with the 4-2-1 collectors on them.
The tubes are routed so they pair correctly in the headers.

I didn't do back to back comparison runs at the drags. I switched from 1 5/8" headers to the 1 3/4" Hedman.
They did seem beter, had lots of low and mid range too.
