When I took the window channel off there was a thin, double sided, type of tape sealing the actual SS steel channel to the body. Does any body know, or recommend a replacement for this?

I don't think it was my removal process that got the best of it. Then again this is my first Camaro resto... Anytime something has an adhesive weatherstrip assisting the bond I can't imagine saving it during the process. Are we talking about the same thing... I'm talking about how the stainless channel mounting to the area below the upper roof drip edge. Maybe mine had something added by a previous owner during one of it's many paint jobs.
Are you saying there's no sealant between the channel and the body?
Definately need the sealant there. If yours was a type of tape, I'd say it was a previous owners fix....and probably worked just fine. A generous bead of nonhardening sealer is all that's needed. Mine had a black, tar like goo-pucky, I assumed was factory ??
Thanks for the reply! It's all about getting some feed back. I think you're right. I'll just use some 3M tape... it's not like she'll ever see the weather!
