A lot wrong with this. Besides a repaint: Poly bushings on stabilizer bar, rattle can touch up on subframe, steering wheel rim grain worn off, brake pedel rubber looks like a lot of wear for 9300 miles, cowl was rusty around trim tag. It could be a 9300 mile car, but it has been messed with enough to make the 9300 miles meaningless.

Saw this out-of-nowhere post about this seller here the other day:

http://www.camaros.net/forums/showpost.php?p=1247310&postcount=21

I have no idea who the guy is that posted it or the motive, and I don't really know anything about the seller of the PC. Just thought it was odd and now this car is being discussed.
I went to look at a numbers matching 10 10 69 Z with rally sport about 5 years ago. DjD , Dennis went with me . It was a complete fake... I broke the news to the seller who had paid all the money for the car 2 year earlier. he called the dealer and cussed them out and they sent a transporter and a check imediatley to pick the car up . The seller thought that was pretty cool of them until I explained they could sell the car now for 20k more than he had paid in 2000 . Same dealer in RAMAIRDAVE's post .

The glue on the POP looks a little new to me but I am not sure if it is real or not.

WOW. You guys are sharp. I wish mt 7,864 mile z28 looked that clean. Granted mine sat outside without glass all these years,-- but...I'm still learning here. How can you see the wear in the steering wheel and brake pedal in these pictures? Also black spray paint on the leaf springs?

Judging by the description in the old ebay ad and what was done, I doubt it can be verified as 9,000 original miles. Here is the description of the first ebay ad that was run in April 09:

am selling my 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z11 Pace Car. This car has LESS THAN 10,000 original miles. THIS IS AN ABSOLUTLEY 100% NUMBERS MATCHING, ZERO DISAPPOINTMENT CAR!. It was originally sold in Niagara Falls Canada and has full GM of Canada documentation. It is 100% numbers matching original including alternator, starter, drive train, and interior.

Absolutely no expese was spared in restoring the exterior and engine compartment of this car. All replacement parts are either NOS or GM OER. I did all of the mechanical work myself with the body and paint work being done by Bob Hutton of BKR, Inc. in South Jordan, Utah. This is absolutlely one of the most original pace cars you will ever find. I have owned several '69 Camaros and this is the most original car I have ever seen, let alone owned. I have enjoyed owning this car very much, but I want to start another project and need the space and $$ that this car occupies. I am a sentimental guy that wants this car to go to a good home. Please have a look and contact me at (801) 550-5241 if you have ANY questions on the car.

Following is a timeline of the car that I have assembled based on the documentation that came with the car as well as talking to the original owner’s daughter:

July 24, 1969...................................... Owner purchased in Niagara Falls for his wife

Winter 1974...................................... Owner rear-ended another vehicle. Front end and doors were damaged.

Spring 1975....................................... Damages were repaired and car was parked

1981................................................. Car was transferred from original owner to his estate

1975-2003......................................... Car was driven minimally accumulating less than 100 miles

July 2003........................................... Canadian car dealer purchased car

August 2003...................................... American car dealer bought car and imported it to Memphis, TN

October 2003.................................... I bought the car

November 2003 – July 2005............... minimal restoration by me

When I bought the car, I found that the body work and paint that had been done in 1975 was not good. They had used a lot of filler and there was quite a bit of overspray. However, the car was COMPLETELY original and largely untouched. The only parts I could see that were not original were the spark plugs, right front wheel, and fan belt. As soon as I got the car home, I started the partial restoration.

Following is a list of repairs I did:

· Removed front clip, engine and sub frame

· Sandblasted frame, core support, wheel wells, differential and associated parts

· Stripped firewall to bare metal

· Repainted all parts with Eastwood products

· Rebuilt radiator, starter, distributor, and alternator (farmed these out)

· Re-plated brake booster and brake parts (done by Jerry MacNeish)

· Replaced all engine gaskets and seals

· Repainted engine with VHT high temp paint

· Sand blasted and repainted exhaust manifolds

· Re-assembled front and replicated all original body markings

· BKR Inc in Utah stripped and repainted car

· Front-end aligned by computer

Since completing the restoration, I have driven the car about 1,000 miles, 90% of which was at Hot August Nights in Reno over three visits there.

Following is a list of parts that were replaced:

· Plug wires (OER)

· Points (AC Delco)

· Body bushings (OER)

· Rubber suspension parts (OER)

· Plastic headlight canister deflectors (NOS)

· Headlight canisters (OER)

· Radiator and heater hoses (OER)

· Fuel tank (NOS)

· Hood (NOS)

· Front brake pads (Raybestos)

· Heater Core (NOS)

· Weather stripping (OER)

· Battery (Delco R59 Reproduction)

· Fuel lines (OER)

· Brake Lines (OER)

· Front shocks (Reproduction Sprirals)

· Lower body moldings (OER)

· Hood insulation (OER)

· Floor mats (OER)

· Rear springs (NOS)

· Front springs (Eaton Spring. Found NOS, but they were flat)

· Inner fender splash guards (OER)

· All body bolts (OER)

· Front Wheel Bearings (GM)

· Full Gardner Exhaust System (Gardner)

· Fuel filter (NOS)

· Air filter (Ac Delco)

I have saved most of the original parts I replaced. The car is currently riding on a non-original set of rally wheels and tires. Original tires are still mounted on the original rims.

There are several unique things about this car:

· Convertible top boot is original with original date markings

· All seatbelts are original and date stamped, including front shoulder strap

· Interior is 100% original and un-restored

· Three of the tires are original

· Jack is original

· Car still had original brake shoes and pads. I installed new front pads.

· Have POP and tons of documentation verifying the car’s history

During the process, I fully documented the car. Please contact me for a list of items and date codes. More photos available on http://picasaweb.google.com/maxwell.rogers/1969CamaroPaceCar#

I live in the same general area as the seller. To put it gently, he has quite a reputation to be the master of covering things up and definitely has a negative reputation. Personally, I have bought things from him before and saw first-hand why his reputation is bad to many. Since, I have not stepped foot in his shop and try to avoid him at all costs. I will NEVER buy anything from him again. His cars are nice but his word is crap. Just be tentative....
