If you go LARGER than a 268 you would want a higher stall converter (recommended). As Chad was saying, also compare the @ .050 numbers. You should be OK with that 272 as it is only 216 @.050. The lift is also only.454. :) PDQ67, also recommends higher compression with cams that large. :)
 
Forgot to tell you but when you change the heads to some 64cc ones to bring up the comp. and get larger valves (you will trust me) the 272 cam will really wake up.When you get tired of that go ahead and build a 400.Don't do a 350 or 383 they won't have enough HP.If you want to avoid all of the engine building and swapping LEAVE it alone now before you get started.Horsepower is worse than crack.Once you get started you can't get enough.
