Car has no rust and only 65k miles.Painted 4 years ago and looks good, has 4 small dent/dings. Black on black cloth. Hardtop no T-tops. Interior is nice,no rips or major wear.No air cond. No t tops, no power windows locks or mirrors. Does have power brakes and steering, and tilt wheel. Full documentation and then some. I would be buying from 2nd owner. Original owner ordered it from the states and was stationed in Germany and had it shipped there. Car went from here to Switzerland then to Germany and then back here. All of this is documented. Original window. Sticker, build sheet, all maintenance records, just tons of paperwork with the car. I drove the car and it drives out nice. I have no pics of the car and have to pull the trigger today. What's it worth????

The car you are looking at may be worth more than that. This was just a quick web search I did. The lack of A/C, tops, power mirrors/locks and the 5.0 may hurt its value a little. But none of the other cars had docs like the one you looked at. How nice is the repaint? That may hurt or help the value.

The paints not bad...not show car but as good as factory paint. The owner is a painter and painted it himself, he said the factory paint had some kind of problem and he striped it down and repainted it. I thought these 5 speed hard top cars were kind of rare and sought after?

I own a 3rd gen.

3rd gens are not now and probably never will be considered "collector" cars. Hagerty recently did a "Camaro Craze" feature in its magazine and barely mentions 3rd gens other than to state they are a cheap alternative for those priced out of the muscle car market.

You are looking at a repainted used car, nothing more.

the lack of A/C tells me this could be a 1LE or B4C cop car

does it have 4 wheel disc brakes?

does it have two cats?

does it say 1LE on the option list?

nice car IF it is a real LB9 5 speed, 230hp is what they rated it at and it came with a 3.42(5?) rear axle ratio IF it is a B4C or 1LE

how much does he want?

The 5-speeds were much less common, and more desirable IMO.

I had a GTA with the 5 speed and the same 305 TPI and it did not take much to break, the 5-speeds were a little delicate in those cars.

The drivers seat does have a little wear on the bolster, I forgot about that. The pass. seat and rear seats look like they have never been sat in and the passenger door shuts like it is brand new.

At $4,000 I wouldn't be too concerned about it. As a decent running car it is worth it. But be aware there is poor parts availability, virtually no aftermarket support. They also can develop expensive driveability problems-go price a MAF sensor. Don't worry about the no A/C-by now it wouldn't work anyway.

Beat on it and you will break the weak rear axle. Be nice to it and it should run a long time and mostly hold its value.

For the mileage, 5 speed, hardtop, paperwork $4K is a really good price in our area. Any clean 3rd gen Z28 is starting to bring more money because people are starting to realize that most of them were abused and fell apart. That looks like a fun car and should hold its value.

You need to check for the 1LE option like stated before. I have a 91 Z28 5 speed car and they are pretty rare. Mine isn't a 1LE however it is optioned like 1 and I wouldn't sell for less than $6K - $7K and it's not a 1LE. A 1LE car is considered to be a factory race car for the SCCA type racing. The third gen Camaros get no respect, but I've owned many tune port cars and they run very well and the 5 sp makes it much more fun. If the car is $4K buy it! Look in my profile there is a picture of mine.

OK Guys...Thanks for all the help!! I can always count on my fellow TC members!! To update you....I did buy the car. This thing is actually nicer than I remembered when I went and drove it the first time. I'm going to do some checking on the codes etc. To see what this thing really is. I have a copy of the original certificate of origin and this car never went to a dealer in the states. It went straight to Switzerland. I will post some pics later, but C of O sys delivered to:

OMSC LTD
Route DE LA Glane 107
1752 Villars-Sur-Glane Switzerland
Dealer # 69901

Below this it says certified by:
General Motors
Overseas Distribution Corporation.

I just think this kinda cool!

Thanks again everyone!

You can take the vin number to any dealership and they can print off all the options for your car...at least they could a couple years ago.

open the glove box and look for the 1LE code !!! sure looks like a 1LE except for the fog lights... maybe that was added on later but 1LE's did not come with fog lights.. nor did they come with side moldings "could be wrong on that comment" but i've never seen side moldings on those... the NON a/c part and manual windows sure smells like a 1LE and if it is .. you lucky dog you !!!

???? the rear axle on the 91's and 92's was the Auburn, it was stout

I will give your $4000 for it if you don't want it

the 91 production year had a period where the 4wdb axle was not avail, they gave you a $500 credit on the window sticker

does it have dual cats? If so it is the 230hp version, if not it is a lower hp version

since this car was an export model they MAY have been able to order the car without a/c, not sure, but all other Z28's came STANDARD with air, unless it was a 1LE

check to see if it has an aluminum driveshaft and whether the front calipers are single or dual piston
