Not trying to hijack the thread but I have a question about tire width versus rim width.
I've got 15"x7" wheels. I see some people run a wider width tire in the rear than the front....some do this with wider rims in back and some without.

Is there some reason why you'd run a narrower tread in front than the rear (besides more rear end rubber on the road)?
I was planning to put 235's on the 15"x7"s all the way around, but is there any reason I should put 225's in front instead?
It's a preference thing Joe... Yes, arguably a traction issue, but really it's about look and stance. What were you planning on, 235 x 60's?

- Wheels: 15X7 with 4" bs up front, 15X8 with 4.5" bs in the back
- Tires: 215/65/R15 up front, 245/60/R15 in the back
I would not go any bigger up front... you should be able to get a 255/60/R15 in the rear but don't rule out rolling the fender lips. These specs will keep your tires just inside the lips with everything exactly as it left the factory (drum brakes and all). Check out my profile for more info.

Check my profile

Fronts are 15x7 with 4 1/4 bs. 235/60r15
Rears are 15x8 with 4 1/2 bs 255/60r15

Andy, are you certain those are 6's up front? They look like 7"s...

JD
Its possible they are 7s. I've never had the tires off the rims. The previous owner told me they were 6".

Im lookin to buy 15" ralleys for my 69'. I currently have 17" TTII which Im happy with the look but I would like to have a set of ralleys also.
Would like to see pics of ralleys, I happen to like a bit beefy lookin rear tire as well so I wouldnt mind havin to have the rears widened alittle.
Does anyone still run these wheels??
I am running 15 x 7's with Yokohama Y352, 235/60R15 on the rear and 225/60R15 on the front

Dusk,

I am running 15 x 7s all the way around. Have 235/60s on rear and 215/65s on front.

Got the car this year and not sure about the suspension it has. Springs may be weak. I don't like the stance. I plan to install Hotchkis TVS this winter and likely go to 205/60s on front (at least those look good on my '67).

Oh yeah, my '69 is Dusk Blue.

I'm glad to see other people still have an interest in running ralleys on their Camaros.
The only thing my car is missing from it "appearing stock" are the ralleys thats why I wanted to see some different prospectives and you guys are all a big help. Def would say that I like the 15X8 look in the rears.
What is the biggest tire you can run on the 15X7 in the rear without looking too idiotic? I know a few of you have PM me about purchasing some and I appreciate it, I just need to decide 15x7 or 15x8.
On the rear I have 245/60/15 with 15X7 on mine to give you an idea .
