454 vs 383 weight

I have new 2" drop Hotchkiss springs. Would these have to change if I put a 454 versus the 383? 327 is current engine with iron heads.

The GMPP 383 versus 454 is only about $300 diff.

BB with aluminum heads is ??? I think about 200-300 lbs. more than a all steel SB.

Double check me on that.

I think you would get away with it, if your not drifting and like the lower profile look. It may have a nicer stance with the SB springs.

An all iron big block is about 685 lbs and the small block equivilent roughly 550 lbs.
You can shave 100 lbs off a 454 with aluminum heads and intake manifold and weigh close to an all iron small block.

Add an aluminum water pump, hi torque mini starter, etc.

Don't forget to convert from small block to big block can cost you about $2000 when it is all said and done. That $300 grows mighty fast !

Stick with the 383, it will be a lot quicker.
If you don't have power steering, it will be even worse.
