I have an X66 BBC and wanted to verify I have the correct motor mounts and stands. Is there an easy measurement I could take to verify I have the engine in the correct offset position???

Measure from your air cleaner stud to each fender. It should be offset to the passenger side. You can also check the transmission crossmember. The transmission mount should be 1/2" offset to the passenger side. (measure from each end to the center of the bolt pattern)

Thanks everyone. I measure 25 7/8 drivers side and 24 3/4 pass side. I guess I'm good. Just trying to figure out why my shifter handle is so far over to the drivers side. I think it may be bent??

Do you have the correct Big Block transmission crossmember ?

Top one is SBC, bottom one is BBC.

Yes Tom, Thanks. I just can't figure out why my 4 speed shifter hits the drivers side console ?? 1st and 2nd only. Can't get reverse. It seems the handle could be over to the pass side an inch. Its an original shifter. Maybe the yoke is a little bent.

If the crossmember was for a small block, and you used a big block shifter bracket, your shifter would be too close to the console at the left side.

It is a BB crossmember. When I sent the shifter out the handle was originally bent by someone else. I have had everything redone, including the handle bent back and rechromed. I hope that is my problem. Could the repro BB mounting plate be that bad ?? Don't know. I had a one piece floor professionally installed. Man, I hope the tunnel/floor is not screwed up from the factory it came from. It sure looks good and lines up perfectly from what I can see. I will take some pics. Thanks 1st pic is 3rd gear, 2nd pic is 2nd gear. The last pic on the right is in 1st gear.

Changing to the small block shifter plate would move the shifter a 1/2" to the passenger side. It's not right to use the wrong parts, but in your case it should fix your problem !

That is what I'm hoping for Mark that the yoke is bent. I'm dead on in the middle as in thread #9.

And you're positive you have the chevy b/b crossmember, and not the Firebird one? The Firebird one has the rectangular opening with one diagonal corner, like the b/b chevy one, except that the holes are in the wrong place. Don't know the details, but as I recall, the Firebird one put the tranny too far to the driver side. There were some pics on this forum or Yenko.net a couple of years ago, showing the differences. I'm sure the pics are gone, but maybe someone downloaded them, and can re-post.

Or you might compare your dimensions to the ones in thread #5 to make sure yours are the same.
