I was thinking about using a PPG DBU black paint. I bought a quart of black for doing small parts bc/cc but I was wanting to spray just the black on grille, grille molding, and the headlamp bezels and be done. So it would have that matte finish. Can I do that?

I just did my grill black. I used OEM brand matte black. Came out great. Here is a link:

This what my body shop gave me for trim and has work good. It is SEM 39143 Trim Black. The price is right too.

I'm afraid I'm not 100 % sure on that. I would think you have to clear it.

You have to clear BC. There is no hardner in base coat paint,,just reducer.
The Trim black paint is great but shake the can well and fog the paint on. Dont lay it on wet.

Okay after reading this thread I got to looking at my headlight bezels and thought I would repaint them. I only wish I had taken before and after pics as I am extremely pleased with the results. Here is what I did.
- Removed bezels
- Cleaned bezels with a wax and grease remover
- Taped off the chrome ring on bezel
- Lightly scuffed bezel with a scotch-brite pad
- Cleaned bezels again with a wax and grease remover
- Let bezels air dry
- I sprayed on two very light coats Rustoleum Satin Black (7777 black)
- Let bezels dry for 24 hours then removed tape

SEM Trim Black. That is exactly what it is for. Aerosol and quarts. Go to your jobber.
