New to the forum and glad to be here, so this is my story.

Traded my 1985 Grand National for a 69 Z in the late 80s, drove it for a couple a years and then gave it to my dad when I went to Europe working for the military. I finally have enough garage space and brought it home a few weeks ago. Somewhere down the line the motor and trans were absconded with and replaced with a small block {power pack heads} and a turbo 400. I am fairly certain that it is a real Z and will list everything I can think of, if you have anything else to look for I would appreciate the help.

The motor was advertised as a 302-327 and the owner was very up front, he had built it for his corvette 25 years ago and he gave it to me for a great price. I guess what I should ask about the heads, block and intake, are they from a vette and are they worth more to a vette restorer than to me, I am looking for some 186 heads, real dz block and dz intake to make this one what it should be. I will never sell it so finding some of the real deal parts isn't a thing I need tomorrow, just want to make sure that I am doing the right thing.

Yep the trim code is 711
The intake is an aluminum high rise with two round intake holes, the 69 z intakes that I have seen have an open plenum
Anybody familiar with X 7 in yellow by the package tray. I had seen that it denotes the x-77 is that a base z-28 code?

That means that it is a X77 = Z/28 without trim.

So the car is a Z/28 !

The block is a Flint-built "CE" replacement, built in January, 1971. Heads are small-valve castings (1.72"/1.5") with 59cc chambers. Intake was used on '64-'65 Corvette 350hp and 365hp 327's.

:beers:

I am looking for the real 302.

I found some 186 heads that are fully ported and ready to go for $400, won't match the date code, I think the heads are from may 69 and my car is dec 68 but at this point I just want it to run like a Z
