Ok ive seen all the kits out there and i really dont want to mount some bracket and use Monte Carlo,Caddy,Astro Van...etc. parts on my car. Can i just shave down the drum spindle to specs and bolt on the caliper mount and be on my way or is there any issues with the drum spindle after shaving it down? not enough threads, no threads? What say U? Thanks

Many have cut the upper boss down to fit the disc brake caliper brackets (me included). If I remember correctly, I just used disc brake caliper bracket bolts to mount it also... no special shopping needed.

I mounted the bracket to the spindle at the bottom only, just loose enough so I could move it, then rotated the bracket up until it touched the upper mounting boss, made a mark and then made my cut.
No issues and worked like a charm.

That point's been brought up in the past. I was concerned way back when I did the mod also.
I cannot remember what the boss looked like as far as remaining overall depth and thread depth, but I had no issues torquing the bolts to the proper value. I drive it like I stole it and haven't had any issues...yet. I haven't head of anyone having an issue with this procedure either.

I just stumbled on this picture I took of my setup:
