I just canceled my subscription due to the changes in the magazine. Seems as though they have gotten away from the 1st Generation cars. The restoration projects in the magazine are so outrageous the average person can't afford them. They have also gotten into articles on road racing which I personally don't care anything about. I am no longer going to pay for a magazine that is full of BS and advertisements. Unless and until the magazine gets back to printing articles on the 1st Generation cars, I am DONE!

I wish mine wouldn't come a week or more after I see it on the shelf at the grocery store...Really tempts me to look at it.

And I agree with Dennis - 6 months early and a threat the price is going up?

Don't get me wrong - I love the magazine, but I agree a better balance of articles is needed.

I do see this magazine getting farther away from what the average guy can afford. It seems most of the cars are done by high end shops for guys who can drop six figures into a car. Don't get me wrong, I am all for making a car your own, but when you chop up a first gen so bad that it is not recognizable on the street for what it was (you know which car I am talking about), you lose my interest also.

This may not be a suitable comment on this issue, but I would like (need) a good magazine for Camaro restoration issues.

I am a subscriber of Chevy High Performance magazine and I think it is full of manufacturers paid for product demos

Most of the car mags the past couple of years have been bad.
I do think that if brand "X" gives them a setup of some type, voila! a positive article is written about it.
Years ago Hot Rod was a decent mag, now, I can hardly stomach it. I let my Chevy Hi Perf subscription run out, and didn't renew, Sean Haggai at CHP thinks drifting is a legit sport, and seemed to barely contribute anything automotive for a long time there,......the latest Camaro Performers disappointed me as well. Car Craft is getting thinner & thinner and is "o.k."
Hemmings Muscle Machines and Muscle Car Review are good if you like the paint dab and chalk mark resto correct type cars.....

Sorry clill, road racing is not bs. I have been reading the mag for a long time. I can remember when people would complain because there were too many 1st and 2nd gen articles. They said that was what sells the mag. Things have changed and I did not keep up with them ,just a old fart I guess. Great mag just not for me anymore. I'm sure they won't miss me as much as I miss their old mag. Did not mean to step on anyone's toes.

I guess the question is, has anyone contacted them in any form about these issues?
I prefer 1st gen articles and would like realistic resto articles as well. Just like Camaros at Carlisle last year, it seems like the 5th gens are getting the attention.

Its hard to please everyone in these cases. I buy it and read it and wish there had been more first gen stuff but it has always been that way. one section on 1st gen with the rest geared to everyone elses interests. :) No biggy they do cover a wide array of topics.

I quit subscribing to all of the mags a couple of years ago. Seemed like they were more or less just a vehicle for manufacturers of products.
I realize fully it takes a mountain of money to finance the magazines but I got the idea they were leaving the real hobbiests in the dust.

On another note, with all the projects we have going at TC maybe some people would volunteer to write articles for an Ezine right here?

That would satisfy the thirst for first gen articles and there is a wide variety of enthusiasts in the membership from concourse restorations to road course guys to drag racers to pro touring peeps.
I bet some members would be willing to offer their insight and expertise for articles, and it would be (hopefully) void of the advertising crappola and hype that is found in the rags.

What do y'all think?

I've seen the changes in the magazine as well. Every month there are usually several pages and/or articles on autocrossing the pro-touring type cars. I've seen where people have wrote into the magazine about it and the response that magazine gave was to the affect that they weren't going to change this anytime soon. I think these cars are cool, but I get tired of seeing protouring LS based first gens being the center of attention for every issue. There used to be more articles on original cars, restored cars, and cars with cool race history. I miss seeing that. I do enjoy the tech articles and new products sections when they upgrade a project car.

Exactly. Magazines seem like the Sunday paper advertisements now. Once in a while they'll throw in a comparison article for good measure.

There was at one time. I believe it was called Chevy Punch and it was e-published by the original site owner Al. I'm not sure what the status of it is now. He put out several issues but as the rest of the good stuff put in place for the members here, it fizzled away.

Playboy and Hustler are two magazines you can subcribe to for a guarantee in what your going to get for content...................

The ok articals and some funny jokes!!

I do like looking at the "builds" sections though!!

As a subscriber i personally think CP get's better with each new issue but hey...can't please everyone I guess.

I like CHP too but then again...I may be biased, lol.

I too have backed away from these mags for all the reasons mentioned here.
Which brings me to the "speed channel"...or infomercial of the day. Would'nt it be nice to afford all those high end tools and parts ? I know the products pay the bills but the number of car guys here who can't afford them out number those who can.
The guys on these shows do have talent and I do enjoy the knowledge and tips they give. PS... and whats that guy always laughing about ? and who picks up all those old parts he's been throwing across the floor ?
