Re: Whats to cold to work in garage

I'm from the So Cal desert and when it was in the upper 40's to low 50's last week I couldn't feel my fingers that well so I stayed inside. :)

Re: Whats to cold to work in garage

When its zero outside, 50 is the lowest I want it to be in my garage putzing in flannel shirt and jeans. Any colder and fingers dont like it, nose runs and goosbumps show up. :)

When you have little beads of sweat on your forehead and you inadvertently touch it to the frame and "it's stuck!!!!!" LOL

What's heat?? Actually, I can heat my garage, but seldom do. If I've got a job outside that has to be done, it can be 15 below with the wind howling, I'll be out there.

It all depends on how desperate you are. Racing for points around here starts in early March, and if I have the engtire car ripped apart in Febuary,I will be out there heat or not dropping the engine in,rolling around on the concrete to hook up the trans or whatever it takes. B ut then again I have been strapped into my race car on race day when it was 25 degrees out waiting for the temps to go over 32 so they could start pulling the cars. We are a hardcore bunch out here in the Northeast.

Last week I had friends off work, clear weather, shop space available, and a commercial blaster available....prefect alignment of the stars to tear down my 68 Vert, right?

Not quite....

Little thing called a cold spell here in Western Washington! In my garage, the vert had been top down. The top was too stiff, my son and I could not get the damn thing close enough to latch...so top down. After a late start due to the stubborn top, the heater blower started howling like a banshee...had to turn the blower off...
Yup, 40 minute run to Bonney Lake....temp was 25 degs. People looking at me like I was blue in the face or something....arrival shot

We then worked three days in temps below freezing stripping the car down. The blaster ended up being non-mission-capable.

When the dog is stuck to the fire hydrant.

How do you know when it's too cold?

When the beer starts to freeze you know that 5% alcohol ain't enough, so you switch to wine. When the wine starts to freeze you know that 12% just won't cut it so you switch to scotch.
When the Glenfiddich ices over, you won't care because you're either pickled or suffering from hypothermia.
That is when your wife opens up the door to the garage and tells you that it's too danged cold in the garage to work, so get your sorry a$$ in the house.

Time to go in & wait till the beer thaws out.

Paul :beers:
