Reach underneath and push up the spring loaded button to remove the shaft and knob, they unscrew the round nut from the front and slip it out the back of the dash.
The electrical connection just pulls off. These are pretty cheap from the auto parts stores. 15 to 20 bucks unless you want a GM switch. Just make sure to take it with you because they make 2 different ones. Compare the male studs where it plugs in.
These switches are very cheap,you can clean the contac,with small wire brush,use contact cleaner from radio shack,spray in switch work on and off alot until switch frees up,better to replace since you have out hope this helps
