Well - you guys asked for it, so we built it. Today we are debuting a new size in the ET Street Radial lineup at PRI that come to us via Yellow Bullet.
It is a P295/55R15.
Now, before this starts, I know the P295/50R15 was the one commonly asked for and that's what's out there now in most "street designs". However, something emerged if you read a little deeper. Really, it was something between a P275/60R15 and 325/50R15, both of which are basically 28" tall. Well the "50" series tire would be short of 27". We thought - no good.
Also if you look, "55" series would make the new tire a direct option for those running the 28.0/10.5-15 slick. Hmm - now we're getting somewhere.
This size did not exist anywhere, so we had is submitted to Tire and Rim.
Preliminary dimensions are as follows:
Diameter - 27.9"
Section width - 12.0" on a 9.5" rim
Tread width - 10.8
Approved rims - 8-10.5
The tire being shown at PRI is the first prototype, literally hot from the press. Availablity will be the first quarter of 2010, just in time for race season.
