All right you Camaro experts; I'm in need of help. Just bought a 97 Camaro v6 with 76000 miles that sat for two years. I drained the fuel and changed all filters, spark plugs and wires (not fun!), and all fluids. I have since put 3500 miles on it with out any problems till now. The car now stumbles and then dies without regard to speed. It will restart without much problem. I am leaning toward fuel pump but want other opinions given the cost of pump and time to change out. Fuel pressure with pump running is about 50psi; pump goes off it drops to about 46psi; it will continue to drop psi. I don't have the shut off lines to isolate the leak to the pump or FPR or leaking injectors. Car runs fine gets good mileage and is easy to start no matter how long it sits. So I would rule out FPR and injectors. When the car is running the needle on the gauge bounces rapidly. While driving the psi varies in accordance with throttle but doesn't fall below 40 psi. Cannot tell if it drops below 40 psi when it stumbles and stalls. Never any codes set and all sensors working within specified parameters. Could it be something with ignition or some short? Any help would be great.

Does it stumble at all on its way to stalling, or just a dead stop?
If it stumbles its way down it might have been fuel related, if a sudden stop it probably wasn't fuel related to begin with. Sorry, for the late response on that one.

It it dies all of a sudden its likely something electrical, I believe those cars had coil or ignition module issues. Google it, you might find what you need or some good places to look.

Around here we do mostly 1st gen Camaro stuff.

Well it wasn't the icm either! Also changed out fuel pump relay and oil pressure switch since it has a feed to cut fuel off. I am going to try the crank sensor next. It just bothers me to throw parts at it not knowing if it will work. I am not 100% it will help changing the crank sensor; everything I have read says it should throw a DTC. Also if it looses its 3x or 18x refrences while the engine is running it would continue to run in bypass mode untill the key is turned off; then would not restart. I have Googled this condition and have yet to find a similar problem, most throw a code. Keeping fingers crossed the crank sensor fixes it; if not off to the Dealer for help.

Update; well it seems the problem might have been the crank sensor even though no codes were ever present; and the spark advance never went to bypass mode due to lack of signal from crank sensor. So if your having stalling issues and everything else checks good replace the crank sensor.
