A friend has a 1970 Nova with a 12 bolt and 4.56 posi. I don't have the numbers so I can't say what it originally came with from the factory. The rear end is complete with the exception of the brakes. Any idea of the value? He had been quoted $500 for it and I thought that was a little low. He is replacing it with another 12 bolt that is set up with a spool and after market axles.

The 3rd gen. Nova and the first gen Camaro 12 bolts have been steadily rising in cost. $1500.00 is normal if in good condition and working. Media blast, paint and install new brakes and they are going for $2000.00 and higher. If some one needs a specific date code, etc and you have what is needed the price can go up dramaticly from there.

For 1970 Novas 3:55 gears were the Factory Standard Gear for SS396 Novas.1970 Yenko Small Block cars had a COPO ordered 4:10 Gear. 1968 SS396 Novas came Standard with the 3:55 but in 1968 Novas you could factory order the "Special" 4:10,4:56 and 4:88. That being said if this 1970 12 bolt Nova rear has the code for the 3:55 factory stamp on Axle tube and has GM 4:56 Gears with GM 4 series posi it could fetch between $2000.00 to $2500.00 depending on condition.Check the axle tube code ,never know could of been a rear used in one of the 70 Yenko Small Block cars.Also Day 2 cars are coming on strong and this would be a nice item in a Day 2 1970 Nova.I had lots of Big Block Camaros in the 1970's and most ran the 4:10 ,4:56 gears and some the 4:88's! Joel Rosen loved these gears in his Motion cars,3:55's just don't do the job.

Oh yeah if you get lucky and it has the code for the 4:10 gear in the 1970 Yenko Nova Deuce Small Block car it could be worth $5000.00 and up! The Yenko site recently said the 70 Yenko Nova Duece Small Block cars sell for $125,000.00!!

I just bought a 12 bolt drum to drum-factory perches, 3 series&spacer with 4.56s for $650 was a BS 3.31 code rear and I think it was well bought.

I just checked mine and no luck ! It was originally a 3.31 open carrier; when I bought it, it had been changed to a 3.55 posi.

a good 12 bolt rear end is prob worth 2k in my opinion from what i have seen both around San Jose and in Los Anegeles...
I can not confirm for sure, but I am 95 percent sure Ed is correct.
