Hey guys,

I came across a barn find, one everyone always dreams of!!!

-55,XXX ORIGINAL miles on title
-Matching DZ motor and Muncie transmission (both vins clearly legible)
-Early pre X car with no console/tach/guages
-Rear is long gone
-Car has been raced (flared rear quarters) otherwise in original condition
-VERY VERY solid car underneath. Doors, trunk, fenders, rockers, hood, are all very clean
-Interior and glass are nice (rear fold down seat)
-White car black guts with black stripes

Engine and trans are out of car. The rest of the car is mostly complete.

What's this kind of car worth knowing it will need to be restored? The motor turns freely. Motor has original alternator, intake, and pullies. Carb and dist. are incorrect.

I will post some pictures tomorrow.

WIW?

Justin, congratulations on this barn find and a '69 Z to boot. How complete is the motor? Are all the hard to find pieces still on the engine IE: smog system, exhaust manifolds, carb, intake etc. Also are the original rims still with the car? Condition and completeness will effect the price. I will wait until you post pics to venture an estimate on value.

Sonny is correct, those little pcs. add up in a hurry for value. Throw in the distributor, correct 4 clip trim rings as they can be a big $$ add on. A lot to consider but what a find. Good one Justin:thumbsup:........

Thanks for chiming in guys. I will have pictures this afternoon, when I hopefully pick it up.

The car has not been tubbed. One of the most solid 69's I have seen. Outer wheel wells have been messed with during the "flare-era" Other than that, she is bone stock.

The radio still sits in the dash. It has a flapper cowl hood on it now. I have another show 69' with a flat hood I may put on it to make it correct. I also wanted to put a cowl hood on my other 69' so it may just work out fine. I also have a complete 69' Smog set up I may donate to the engine.

Unfortunately no rallies, I think they are keystone mags.

I will update this afternoon with all the pics you guys want to see :)

Where is it ? I'll go take some pics for ya... :beers: Seriously it sounds great. I won't begin to guess on value without pics & details about what's there, condition of engine, etc. but I've been down the road of restoring a 69 Z once already and I'm almost thinking that if this one was mine I might bag the original engine and stick it in a corner, drop in a crate motor & run it. Especially if you already have another restored Z. Let the next guy chase all the expensive "correct" parts.

Ok, the eagle has landed!!!

I ended up getting and picking the car up this afternoon. I am extremely happy with it. It is one of the most solid cars I have ever seen. Doors slap shut like they should. No rot anywhere on the car.

The two small holes (manmade) in driver rocker were used to remove sand (years ago) in the rocker with a vacuuum and blow gun.

Obviously the major blem is the flares which I think can be easily fixed by a good body guy.

The car doesn't have correct rear (10-bolt)

The major components on engine that ARE there and match are: Intake, balancer, pullies, alternator, water pump, and brackets.

The heads are not correct for the year.

Overall it's a great car with potential to be a nut & bolt concourse car. X3 is even still present on passenger side rear seat brace!!!! The seams are very crisp and unmolested.

Engine/Trans vin match car and title. I also checked hidden vin and they do jive.

So, what's it worth!!!!!

Oh, by the way here is a link to 80+ pics: http://s545.photobucket.com/albums/hh399/krobsklassics/1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Barn Find/

Looks like a pretty easy project to complete; still, you're going to put 15K into it minimum to make it presentable. If you paid less than 12K, you got a great deal, more than 20K, you'll have a hard time getting your money out of it.

Disclaimer: Strictly my opinion.

Nice car looks Dover White to me. What are your plans. My Guess is you are probably looking at 20 to 25 K to get her in mint shape, depending on who does the work of course. If its all original for the most part, especially numbers matching engine and trans you should do very well with the car. Not sure what it costs to restore a car out your way, but around here it is very expensive.

I am guessing once all done up the car should be worth over 50K depending on the buyer and if its white or not. For some reason some guys don't feel white is desirable color. Mine was white and I painted it a more desirable color to me, Cortez Silver. I am not sure if your car would be worth more or less with a color change. That is debatable.

It its current state 10K would be a good deal. Put another 20K into it and you are in the money all day long. IMHO of course.

Great find. Thanks for keeping the dream alive.

AWESOME find!! Congrats, it's fantastic to know that these cars still turn up from time to time.... How did you come to find the car?
Look forward to following your build, however you go about it!

Thanks for the input! I actually found it on craigslist. It was posted 2 days before I found it.

I paid a lot of money for it but the way I look at it is it's a once in a lifetime chance to get a #'s match 69' Z as a project. It helps that the car is rust free too.

I will end up selling the car the way it sits. Maybe locate some heads and a rear to sweeten the deal. I'm not in a position to keep or restore the car as much as I would love to.

I will post it up on TC to give everyone here first crack at it. If it doesn't sell, it's going on ebay.

I was gonna ask what you paid but since you bought it just to flip it (not that it's a bad thing) then I'm sure you're keeping that info under your hat. Nice score in any case. If you're going to offer it here first I wouldn't bother trying to find heads or a rear. The hardcore guys here will want to have exactly the right parts down to being made within a certain time frame of the build date of the car & some of these packrats maybe even already have the proper parts under their bench gathering dust. :beers:
