Putting my car back together I have the single pole switch in the left jam and the doubble pole switch in the right jam. Im mixed up on the wiring. I have the courtesy light wire (orange) coming from my fuse panel (after market)Where does that go and how do you put the lights in line with it. I bought two under dash LED lights.

Do I run the orange wire to the doubble switch then to the lights then to the other single switch? Not much on wiring

thanks for the help

Dennis

I believe the orange and white wire hook to the double wire on the drivers side door jam. I think its the white wire that runs from the drivers side to the passenger side single.

I am in the process of rewiring my 69 camaro with an AAW kit and the single pole was on the passenger side door jamb while the double pole was on the driver side door jamb. The orange wire is a 12v source and when the door opens it closes the switch to apply a ground to complete the courtesy light circuit.

Shoot me a PM with your email and I'll send you a couple wiring diagrams from the assembly manual that might help you out. They are too big to upload on here.

I am going to try to answer this with out going to my wiring diagram first you should post what year, but the switchs in the door jambs only provide ground they should be a white wire your courtesy lights should be orange wires or orange/white.You should get a diagram

I just looked at the wiring diagrams from my kit and the under dash courtesy lights are wired in parallel with the door switches. The updated kit I have only has a white wire going to each door switch but with the original harness it may require the use of a secondary jumper wire from the second pole to the other door on the car. I know there are some subtle differences with the newer kits to make the wiring more efficient. Either way the white is the ground and the orange is +12V. Hope this helps.

Thanks all I think I get it being the switches are a source for ground. If I have it right the orange wire or hot lead goes to light on one side the other side goes to the switch. The one switch is then wired to the other switch. Therefor the light always has power just needs either door open to complete the ground.

That is correct. Orange is hot. White is ground. Switches make ground for light. Interior lights are looking for a ground.
