Hey guys I am looking at doing a ls brake swap all the way around on my 71 Nova. I know that it is much easier to use 67-69 Camaro drum hubs. My question is if anyone has done this can I use the disc spindle with the drum hub or do i need the drum spindle? I have located the parts I need I just dont want to spend money for the drum spindles if i can use the disc spindles I already have.

a factory disc spindle is just a drum spindle with the upper boss cut down farther for the caliper bracket. the bearing and seal surfaces are the same.

Why would you want to convert to front drums when you already have the front disk brake spindles? Front disks are a much better set-up IMO.
They are looking to do an LS brake swap....1998-2002 era Camaro front brakes.

I think I read where you can simply mill the pad down about 5/8 inch. I wonder if you can do this with the spindles still on the car? Are the steering arms any different? I have all the brake hardware, and thought this might speed things up if I just pulled the drum brake stuff off and ground down the mounting pad on the car.

Use your disc spindles. Just use a spacer on the upper mount with the 5/8" bolt to mount the brake bracket parallel to the rotor. Check your local hardware store for some spacer tubes. My local True Value hardware store has a good selection of spacer tubes that would work. Once you find the correct inside diameter you trim the length to fit.
