Someone with an original wiring harness, please let me know if the main harness(6293325) or the console harness(6293329) has the ground wire that bolts to the tunnel.
Use AIM D55 A6 and A7 for reference.
Bought a Factory Fit console harness(CA70655) and the ground is part of it and not in the main harness(6293325).
The harness has about two feet of extra wiring on it and connects to the main at the air distribution ducts, and is nothing like what is shown in the AIM.
Factory Fit claims they use factory specifications, so what is correct?
I know this is all under the console, but if I am going to use my time to restore something I would like to make it as correct as possible, and that is just the way I am.

Mine has console gauges. IIRC, I remember mine having a ground that is attached with a screw in the lower dash center bracing, to the right of the ash tray. There is an eyelet on the cabling on a black wire...without this ground the gauges don't work. I can't remember which part of the harness it comes off but I can check this eveing and throw up a photo.

Update,
Just checked with Lectric Limited and their harness also has the ground wire in the console harness. Also checked electrical wiring diagram w/D55 and gauges and the only ground shown is for the shifter lights gauge lights and low fuel indicator.
Could someone with an original console w/gauges please tell me if the console plug that plugs into the main harness is under the console or under the dash?

Ron,
So, the console harness runs under the carpet to below the dash and then plugs into the main harness,Correct? That is nothing like what is shown in the 67 AIM D55 A6 but does confirm what the wire manufactures are telling me.
Unless I am missing something I am beginning to wonder about the info in the Aim.
What is your build date?

None of the pages I find in the AIM show this very clearly. Here is what I am talking about. The dash harness meets the console harness at the front right corner of the console and both multipin connectors are mated and hung on a plastic tab that is attached to the heater ducting. The black wire(kinda looks green in this photo) comes from the console harness.

I hope this is helpful. This is all I could get before I blew the bulb in the droplight...

Tom,
Great shot of the ground wire, very good detail. Confirms what Ron has said about his build.
Yours and Ron's are installed completely different than the AIM shows, but there could be a reason. The AIM shows a revision on 3-10-67 and the console wiring was changed from 6290654 to 6293329 and that could explain the completely different installation that you and Ron have. Now I need to know when the change took place, could have taken place before or sometime after the revision date.
Do you know your build date?

Thanks Tom and Ron.

The AIM shows a 3-10-7 redesign w/ wiring changes. So now, when did the line actually make the change? With help from some other members we could pin the change down.

Does anyone have an 01 thru 06 build with the original wiring and console that could let me know how theirs is wired?

Does anyone have an original 67 console that has a build date between 01 and 07, that the plug that connects the main harness to the console harness is plugged together at the forward end of the console, as shown in the 67 AIM D55 A6,A7 or U17 A3
If you have build dates between 01 and 07 and the plug is under the dash as shown in previous pictures, let me know.
