Hello fellow team camaro members. I have a question I have a 1968 Rs 327 camaro and my buddy at college has a stock infinity g35, he says he would whoop me if we ever raced. My camaro has a 327 with double hump heads , edelbrock performer air gap intake with a thunder avs 650 and headers with straight pipes. My question is who would win and which would pull off the line first. (I in no way condone illegal street racing, this will be held in a controlled 1/4 mile race track.

Re: 68 327 camaro vs 06-08 g35?

I guess it would depend on what you run in the 1/4 vs. what tuning and mods he's done ...

I've seen street minor-tuned G35's turn in the low 14's~mid 13's consistently over the years.

If he beats you it's time for some re-work ;)

Re: 68 327 camaro vs 06-08 g35?

A stock 07 G35 does the quarter mile in 13.9 @ 102.1mph
My best time at the track was 13.3 in the 1/4 mile
On paper there is your answer if the G35 is stock! Since you have been to the track before quit jawing about it and get out to the track! What you do if he beats you to make your car faster really depends on what you are starting with. A car running a 15sec quarter might be able to be tuned and driven to run 13's. The right tires can mean a half second, the driver can add or decrease a couple seconds depending on his abilities!

Junior,

I can probably get you a couple tenths of a second if you have an extra couple hundred bucks laying around. Nothing major.......but effective.

What kind of tires do you have on the car?

I believe Junior's '68 is a little modded if he claims to run 13.3's in the qtr. Not too shabby.
Motor Trend, at the time in 1967, could only muster 14.2's with a '67 Vette 427/4spd.
But then, driver influence has alot to do with the track action, on any vehicle given.
Would be interesting to see the video as suggested.

Re: 68 327 camaro vs 06-08 g35?

My buddy had a stock g35 a couple of years ago,I used to spank him on a regular basis with my 327,and it's nothing major probably 330 h.p.

I have never understood why everyone is so obsessed with "off the line"
As far as hooking, the infinity will eat a leaf spring car alive unless it's set up correctly.
Also, is your car a manual or auto, and if either, which trans? What is the rear gear etc... I don't know the rwhp of a G35, but I do know they are pretty quick. With double humps, unless you've got some serious engine work, etc... it'd be a stretch to get 330 at the wheels.
If your times are correct vs. the G's, then you have the edge, but I still think the newer vehicle will '60 better.
