My buddy is ready to get a major front suspension kit but there are 2 types of kits, the standard ratio manual steering or the quick ratio manual steering ..
Can anybody help me distinguish what i got?
Where do i have to look for the difference??

Thanks in advance,
Ron

If you have a small block V8 or an I6 chances are you probably have the standard steering box.

2 of the 6 67's I've owned had manual steering. Both were standard ratio manual steering. Both were 327/210 w/PG and manual drum brakes.

Also you can tell how many times you turn the steering wheel to move the tires all the way . I'm not sure on how many turns it takes on the different gear boxes, when buying new sometimes they say .

The above chart show the number of lock to lock turns and what it is with the different arms or pitman arms.

Jack the front of car up. then turn the steering wheel all the way to the left, then mark steering wheel ,then turn it all the way to the right and count how many times it turns !!! This is lock to lock

The lower the ratio number is the quicker steering.

The slowest is 28:1 which is about 4.8 turns lock to lock.
The fastest (quick) is 17.9:1 and is about 2.9 turns lock to lock.
