I ordered covers for my rear arm rests and got this.

I need to figure out if the problem here in me or the parts.

Of note is that the shell is very angular out front. The cover is a very radiused curve.

I pulled out the stock interior and purchased deluxe replacement parts. I don't have any old covers to compare.

Memory tells me the covers follow the angular front and are not radiused. It would require quite a thickness of padding to create that radius on the shell.

Can someone here get me pointed in the right direction on this.

For reference the width of the rear seat area of the car is 55 1/2"

Armrests are 3 1/4" width (each) ... cutting the overall width of the rear seat area to 49"

Rear seat is 47"

All of these are bare shell measurements.

Means I would have a total of two inches to accommodate all padding and upholstery on the seat and armrests. One inch on each side at most.

If that helps with understanding anything at all ;)

I dunno about that. Those things dont have a lot of padding and he is gonna be fighting that stitching. It looks like the overlap seam is welded. Anything else happen to it?

This is a picture of my left rear deluxe armrest in my 67 camaro. There is no extra padding under the cover to makeup an inch thickness.

Thank You Bill:smile2:

This is more like what my memory is telling me.

Anyone else with a factory arm rest that might confirm with a PIC?

I need to decide if I want to return these to C.I. or just work with it.

I just figured getting premade covers from the catalog would get me a better grain match on the vinyl and be cheaper and maybe even easier than taking it to an upholstery shop.:|

These are going back to C.I.

Looks like I need to find an upholsterer.

Well folks … I finally got the problem solved.:smile2:

I found a local upholstery shop and turned him loose.

Perfect fit and they look great to me.

Since the shells had no cover on them I took in the uppers as well so he could match the vinyl. Well, he made new uppers. They are stitched to match the factory pattern.

Couldn't be happier with the result. Total charge was $120.00 … I paid him $140.00:wink2:

I'll have him reupholster the seats at a point in the future. My rear seat is just the wire skeleton frames.:|
