Sounds like a flipper from the description. The fact that he did not fix the oil leak, or the broken windshield tells me he has no attention to detail. The pictures don't show any of the typical trouble areas. Nothing special about the car. In my opinion the stripe looks like an afterthought, and detracts. It may be a great car, but 68's are the middle child and don't bring as much as 67 or 69. Not saying they are bad cars, just the facts. My 69 Z was appraised just over 100K, but I know realistically I would never get anything close to that out of it. I say high teens to low / mid 20's for that car. This was in no way a jab at 68's. I like all Camaro's except gen 4. Sorry gen 4 guys.

the 327/350 discrepancy is a bit od a red flag as I thought all 68 SS SBC cars were 350s not 327s.
Looks like some chrome trim is missing on the upper and lower parts of the grill

Could be as simple as a flipper going on what he was told, and not trying to screw anyone, just has no clue. Its good that it was posted, and people here are pointing out discrepancys about the car, to anyone that might be interested in it. Or Could be a total scam artest. Trying to think on the positive side. Its just a plain 68 till proven differently. No good pictures either. Would pass on this car.

Yes Sir, SS car has 350 or 396 and not a 327. Oh the stuff that goes on. LOL

Thanks for the input. I've been looking locally and this is about the 3rd car that has been listed for what I thought to be extremely high. There was another guy that had a supposed 69 SS with a 350 for $33K pretty nice car but ran rough and lots of little things I identified. I'm not big on numbers matching and such but he had zero documentation to back his claim. I respectfully offered $22K and he said he wouldn't sell for less then $28K. Not sure if its happening to other makes/models but folks around here are really proud of their 1st Gens. I'll keep looking... Thanks!
For $40k, it shouldn't leak oil or need the windshield replaced. For that kind of money, I would expect numbers matching and near perfection. Lacking that, AC and power brakes would be nice. There's no SS hood, and the stripe looks awful. I'd also want to see photos of the build process. What was done, how well was it done, etc. ... Assuming it's good in and out, as it sits, $28-32k.
I think it is funny, he say $40K Firm, then says he wouldn't take less than $28K. I know if I listed for $40K, I might drop to $38K or even $35K, but not $28K.

2. 1970 transmission (VIN is 10L127389 from a Chevelle assembled in L.A.)
3. 1971 (?) 8.5" 10 bolt rear end
4. From the head casting symbol, the engine's a low HP 327 (probably a LF7 - 327/210)
I've asked for a picture of the POP, so once I get that (IF I get that), we'll know more.
