Nylon gears were one of GM's great ideas. If you are going to replace a gear replace the entire set.
Disconnect the linkage from the transmission and see if you can turn the shift lever on the trans by hand, then you will know if you have a shifter problem or a trans problem. Usually one bolt.
Question though, if it is something to do with the shift linkage then why did it work before literally a few months ago but now acts like the key is not unlocking the ignition

Also just a random question, why did they put the nylon on if underneath is still a gear with metal teeth. Why couldn’t they have just made a little bit bigger metal one and just leave the nylon off? Because wouldn’t you want something extremely precise and not prone to wear in something so important as the timing chain? Because if it were to like explode the gear teeth at speed it would destroy your engine wouldn’t it or am I being dumb.

Hey have any of y’all ever reupholstered your interior of a 1971 camaro, because I need help finding a good place to buy the vinyl and I can’t find anywhere that sells it in green, with the same vinyl style for that shape seat. They are stock seats but I’m not sure about the vinyl because I think the car was red before. Although I will say I have found the style I’m looking for but not the right color

Hey so I had a question. The roof and some other parts of the body have some serious pitting and “crater” like surface across the car. I can patch holes and I wouldn’t mind using professional grade body filler for some of the rust pitting, but the roof is covered in it as well as the c pillars. I’d rather not cover the whole roof in body filler unless you guys think it would be fine if done right. What do you guys think, or should I just cut the roof and put a new one on or do y’all have another idea?
