Audition the 90 degree fitting to see "if" it clears. You could shave off a small amount but a carb heat gasket is about 3/8" thick if that gets you there.. Edelbrock, and others make them.

I still use the tube fitting that threads onto the 3/8" side of T fitting for booster that is held to the rear, inside, valve cover bolt. Keeps any soft line from moving and interfering with accelerator linkage.

you can see that hard tube in the pic I posted earlier.

I did notice that hard line, I like your reasoning for using it. I don't have a tee fitting with the 3/8" threaded outlet/inlet (?) but they are readily available. I may end up copying your setup.

NPT fitting threads can be shortened.
according to the chart you get about 4 revolutions.
It’s not much but when it’s tight an 1/8 is worth an inch ….just a passing thought
That’s how the short brass street “L” is achieved

You can also use a NPT tap in the intake to get the 90 fitting to sit as far down into into port as possible. Just go slowly with the tap so you dont remove too much material and it doesn't tighten up before the elbow contacts intake.

Have done this on sbc decks when adding Moroso deck plugs to reduce the upper coolant holes to 3/8" from 3/4". Machine shop appreciates the plugs being just below the deck before they cut the decks. Saves wear and tear on their equipment.

Maybe Heartbeat has the tube section as its also a stock piece like their 3/8-1/8 T fitting. The 3/8 side is threaded to accept the female threaded coupler of the 3/8 tube.

Pic of how it attaches to VC bolt.

@SoCal805 I like the hard line setup. My engine has center bolt valve covers, so wouldn't work with the support bracket, but I could probably use the hard line and fab something to hold it (or it may hold itself, it's pretty short). Heartbeat City does have the threaded fitting and hard line (and bracket).

Thanks

If you are using the stock T fitting from the 90 degree NPT fitting you could use the tube fitting and either cut off the leg that otherwise attaches to VC outer bolt and weld on a bracket you fab up that secures to center bolt or just use it without that leg as it is likely stiff enough on its own

If you wind up using a T fitting with a hose barb, 3/8, and a reducer barb, 1/8, you could run 3/8 hose and route it low and use a 3/8 clamp secured to the DS, rear, intake manifold bolt or one of the coil mount taps in manifold. That would keep the vac hose to booster secured so it does not foul on accelerator linkage. Basically improvise.

Spacer worked, plenty of room now.

For hood clearance. How much is enough? Currently my air cleaner is touching the underhood insulation, but there is room above the insulation, it is an SS hood. I am considering getting a cowl induction underhood insulation kit (or cutting the insulation I have), then using some stick on heat barrier where the insulation is cut out for the cowl induction.

Question, is the cowl induction air cleaner centered over the carb, or offset? Offset would throw a wrench into my plan. I looked at some cowl air cleaners online, and they appear to be centered.

Also, amazing what just a half inch carb spacer does for the look of the engine. Starting to look pretty good. I am still sorting out the PCV. But vacuum to brake booster and distributor is good to go, I think.
