I was thinking about swapping 2nd gen mirrors onto my '67, but it sounds like they won't clear the wing windows. Anyone have experience and suggestions?
Never measured the actual glass to see if the OEM style is bigger/smaller than the bullet glass, but I'd bet they're very close.I like how the stock mirrors look but they are so tiny.
Chevy was really strange through the years. Yes 69 only had the rectangle mirror on the driver side (not square) and 70 you could order two sport mirrors but in 71 your could only get the driver side sport mirror so I added the passenger side. You could get power windows in a 69 but not in 71. You couldn't even get twin horns in 71. Ripley's Believe it or not.I'll do more looking around, are the '69 mirrors square? I had a '69 but I don't remember what mirror (only had driver's side) it had.
Yeah I have those days too. These are the best and probably the only passenger side mirror that really lets you see in reverse with it convex glass. Expensive but the best. After market mirrors have also improved so buying from a quality seller will get you a product that should last for a while. My round 68 Chevelle mirror does a terrible job and really doesn't allow for decent positioning. Rectangular is your best bet. My 69 Camaro were decent. My 71 Camaro sports are not IMO.I'm all ears for something better than stock. Sorry if I seem a little edged I just want better visiblity.

Jethro... Kudos on the Buick mirrors. Did you have any pix of how you built up the Buick base to work with the Camaro door curve? LOL... I have all the parts to do the conversion, totally freaked about removing doors to drill the boot holes. I did drill pilot holes in the dimples and then gave up. Still might do this down the road. Scott's suggestion of using studs in the door hinges was a great one. I'm just not that confident of my R/R abilities with gaps and such.re Mirrors: I also went with the 90's Buick power. Lots of work but they are stealthy and work excellent. Here's the thread on this forum:

Jethro's Burnished Brown 69Z
Hello folks, I'm building a restomod 1969 X33 Z28 that I have been sitting on for a couple years. The car came with matching 12 bolt (rebuilt and nice) rebuilt subframe with original'ish suspension, Wilwoods (for 15" rallys), really good body and floors, and a garage full of parts. Thanks to...www.camaros.net
Post #62 on that build thread.
