I am located in the Fort Mill, SC (Charlotte, NC) area and I am looking for some guidance and recommendations for a reliable and trustworthy shop to restore the factory air conditioning on my 1969 Camaro. Thanks.

I’d like to bring the factory installed “suitcase” system back to life versus installing a vintage AC system. The car has the suitcase and needs the other components. Thanks.

Might be a good time to consider going to R134a as you are going to need some parts unless you want the AC to look factory.

Here's my 67 with a 69 setup.

You can see you are going to need the top hose, AC brackets and AC compressor mounted on the driver's side. The Sanden compressor is light, small, quiet, easy to turn and will rev to 6K without blowing up.

The stuff you can't really see in the photo is the receiver dryer just aft of the battery mounted on the fender liner, a parallel flow condenser in front of the radiator, and a really nice 94 amp 12SI alternator. The alternator makes everything work really well.

Hopefully, you still have the AC dash and controls inside the car.

Original Air Group has all these parts.
