As far as another daily driver. That would cost quite a bit by the time we buy another car and insure it along with the rest of the car issues. The Camaro we already own.

I want to get away from any sort of mileage limitations by getting away from the Classic registration (in Nevada) or limitations imposed by the insurance company.

As for coverage. I am far more interested in having coverage that protects me from “the other guy”.

When it comes to losses, this car is a drop in the bucket, compared to losing everything else we have.
I'm not following you. Beside the Camaro, you only need one daily driver, meaning one other car. For a total of two cars in the household, unless your Camaro is your only car. Hagerty is generous. Got to the site or call. Easy.

Good thing is, it’s not necessary for you to follow me. 😜

I have a Hagery quote in hand. Classic insurance has mileage restrictions. I don’t want that.

Try Grundy. The quote I got was much less than Hagerty and don't recall any real restrictions except not daily driver and kept locked up.

I have an insurance company I have been a client with for 34 years. All my insurance is with them. I am grandfathered into some fairly nice conditions with them. Everyone in the office knows us and they take careful care of our needs. We trust them. The Camaro has been on classic insurance with them for the past 20 years. I could add, they partner with Hagerty.

I am looking to do things with complete peace of mind. If turns out that it costs me a bit more to buy that peace of mind, I’m ok with that.

I’ve never been one to drive myself crazy worrying about finding the lowest possible cost on the things I engage in.

Living comfortably in my own skin has always been paramount.

In the end, I don’t view my car as some special thing … it’s my car, I enjoy it and being able to work with it to make it more to my liking provides a certain satisfaction.

Call me crazy, but I simply want to be able to use the car as I please without restriction.

I understand the milage restriction crap.
On the 71 C10 I built last year, I took it to my ins company. We reached an "agreed" value and I pay rates based on that, with unlimited milage . I drive it whenever or wherever I please.
The only catch is, It is a patina build, and it would be next to impossible to repair to as is condition. Im willing to take the chance. My value is probably less than half your appraisal that will be on the camaro of yours. I hope it works out for you.

It will work out.

I know everyone gets wrapped around the axle about low rates for a car that is not their primary get-around vehicle.

This will be my primary daily driver. So it needs to be set up as such.

Glad to see you are able to follow me. 😜

This is right from the home page of Grundy's website.

Grundy wants you to enjoy your car, not keep track of mileage like some programs with limitations. Therefore, we give you unlimited miles for pleasure driving and in collector car-oriented activities. It is even OK if occasionally you drive your collector car to work to show it off to friends. However, your collector car must not be used as a daily driver. We require you and all licensed drivers in your household to have a modern car for everyday use.

When you have your car at home, it must be kept in an enclosed, secure garage when not in use. If you are away from home on extended outings your car is fully protected if you must park it outside, for example in a hotel parking lot. Grundy coverage includes Trip Interruption that reimburses you for hotel and repair costs in the event of a breakdown, and we also reimburse you for towing and labor charges up to $250. You can count on Grundy as you cruise.

And that is my point.

If I have a claim I want no part in any dispute regarding how, why, when or how much the car is/was used.

I want unquestioned coverage to protect my personal wealth from everyone else. The Camaro is not my primary concern in this.

Grundy: [Y]our collector car must not be used as a daily driver.
yes you need to show you have another car that is categorized as your DD....but there is no restriction, miles, and you can drive your car everyday if you choose. Grundy will also insure your modern DD car.

I have considered switching my "regular" car to Grundy but it is bundled with a multi policy for my house so that lowers the cost for that auto and home policy. However, that 2021 car which cost $43k OTD when I got it new costs over double to insure than my 3 classic cars insured for $140k with zero deductible. I suspect the Grundy inclusion of my DD would be less than 1/2 what I currently pay and my home insurance would not go up that much.

My initial post was to note Grundy does not have an annual milage restriction. In the years I have had Grundy coverage on my collector cars, they have never asked for odometer reading.

IMHO the majority, if not all, of us who have a classic car, we do have a more modern car also used for work commute, etc., but that does not prevent daily use of driving the classic if you chose. There is language in policy that outlines use not permitted like commuting to work daily (read occasionally is fine)

I'll stipulate that you have stated they do not restrict miles.

However, for anyone wondering about how that works, I can tell you from personal experience. I had classic insurance on my Mach1 and then had an accident and filed a claim.

They always take your mileage when you buy insurance on a car for the first time. When you have a claim they will get the mileage. They will then do the math to see how many miles "per year" you have driven it. Granted that is an average.

That's how it worked for me with my car and classic insurance. I was good on mileage.

I sorry I mentioned the insurance aspect of the situation. Did not intend to turn this into an insurance advisory thread. 🫤

Update: The appraiser just left.

He will have a number for me by the end of the week.

His off the cuff thinking is it will likely fit somewhere in the 20s.

You can keep your hagerty/grundy/whoever to protect your investment in the car

Actually, I can't.

I'll be driving the car as a daily driver. None of these classic policies allow for that.
