Check price

Year:1969
Make:Chevrolet
Model:Camaro
Mileage:N/A
Transmission:N/A
Engine:N/A
Trim:N/A

I'm looking to purchase another cruiser that I can take out on a sunny weekend - something that isn't a performance variant, is low maintenance and simple/original. To this end, I’m searching for a base 69 Camaro coupe. My short list of what I’m looking for is:
  • 69 Camaro coupes only
  • Original 327/307 (base) car. May even consider a 6 cylinder.
  • Completely original, not modified in any way. This means cars wearing their correct exterior/interior (as denoted on cowl tag), correct driveline (numbers matching not essential but correct OEM replacement with correct parts ok), etc.
  • Restored, driver or survivor.
  • No projects, no rust buckets, no slap together restos.
Please drop me a message if you’ve got a base 69 I’d be interested in. Before anyone asks - no, I’m not turning this into a COPO clone and whatever I purchase will need to be and remain 100% original.

For transparency sake, I'm located in Western Australia. Happy to consider all cars across the US but obviously the closer to CA, the better (where the car will be shipped out of).

Posting up three pictures as good examples... and just because who doesn't like looking at 69 Camaros...

Small update: had a fairly decent lead and was in the process of organising an inspection when the car was sold out from under me. Still looking. Will consider 6 cylinder cars too and maybe even an LM1 or L65.

Another bump. Still haven’t found anything that meets the criteria. 307/327 or 230/250 coupe, all original, etc. I’ve found plenty of base coupes but they’ve all been turned into SS, Z28 or COPO clones funnily enough!

Yes. That’s to be expected. Nobody wants a 307 or 230 so most of not all have been changed by now.

They are out there and I’ve had a few good conversations with owners but none want to sell. I get the impression that:

1. Nice original base coupes are hard to find and the owner spent equally as much, if not more time looking and won’t give the car up easily, or at all. I’ve had silly numbers thrown at me as in ‘this is my only instant sell number’ and it’s equivalent to a driver Z28 or a real nice L48.
2. The owner fears what the next person will do to their base coupe e.g. cut it, 6-8 swap, pro-tour it, etc.

All fair enough for the owners. I’m just looking for something to enjoy in totally original form and can appreciate the base coupe for what it is. I’ll keep the search going, no rush on my end.

If you want one bad enough your going to have to man up and pay the price, everyone knows what the cars are worth and you can’t buy a really nice used car for less than 30 grand. You want the caviar but don’t want to pay for it. Those days are long gone for decent collector cars. Don’t you think we would all go out and buy six of them nowadays.

I have no expectations of buying something on the cheap - I’m well aware of this and nowhere do I mention I don’t want to pay for it. I’m willing to spend up to 60K USD so in my previous post where I mention I’ve had silly numbers thrown at me - it was well beyond the top end of that budget - at which point I’d just go buy an SS.

Thanks for your input.

1969 camaro, Completely original, not modified in any way.
Thats your problem, the most wanted 1969. And completely orignal and not modified in any way. A granny car with a bench seat and 6 cylinder automatic on the column isn’t going to happen, your just another dreamer that missed the boat

Timing is everything. You would have killed for an X44 I sold to a guy in Norway for 24.5K. It was an incredible car that would probably bring 40 now. They are still out there, being in California, I still see 'em.

Do you actually have any valuable input or are you just here to throw out insults to someone you don’t know and have no idea what is already in their collection?

You’re not wrong! Exactly what I’m after. They’re definitely still out there and I know of some that I keep in regular contact with the owners but they’re changing hands less and less these days.
