OK, I know there are a couple of posts regarding dimple on 1969 Camaro valve covers but I haven't found a definitive answer regarding use of non-dimpled covers. It appears the dimple or slight slant was on the valve cover for clearance to wiper motor and not power brake booster clearance. My question is this, I have a solid lifter cam and wilI need to adjust valves periodically. Are the dimpled / slanted valve covers absolutely necessary or is there a work around when using standard big block valve covers? I don't want to change to smaller brake booster or change wiper motor and I prefer not to use the Corvette valve covers. Thank you in advance for your responses. Here is a picture of the valve covers I intended to use until finding out about the dimpled covers.

They look like stock gm valve covers minus the dent/ dimple drivers side outer corner.
A big block is close to the full size booster. Once installed you won’t notice this dent. If you have rockers with stands the cover hits rockers. If you can put and like stock valve covers in place so be it. It’s tight getting the valve cover off with out the dimple/dent, that’s why factory did it. Can always remove crossmember and dro engine? Easier to use valve covers as designed.

The dimple corner valve cover on big blocks (drivers side) was not factor installed on big block Camaros from the factory nor is it needed to get the valve cover off and on. You can certainly put it on if you like and it will give you some additional clearance.

I just pulled the trigger on some very expensive dimpled covers but I may be in time to cancel. Everything I researched indicated the dimple is factory installed and needed.

A poly loc can stick up higher than a nut. I have had times where I couldn’t get the valve cover off easy enough.
i prob put motor in and had no issue with clearance til u try remove it. Been a while for me. The corvette was tighter in there I believe. The valve cover has to be lift up and over the internal parts. But what ever fits and the op likes.
The dent didn’t ever bother me on the stock covers.
