My 396 is running hot. Upwards to 210-215 at times. Does not boil over. 50/50 anti freeze. Have 4 core Champion radiator w/2 Electic fans 12” off set mounted on shroud. Electric water pump. Heater core not hooked up due to no second out put on water pump. Thinking of drilling holes in shroud opposite corners of the fans to allow air to flow though freely. Any thoughts?

Hot sitting at idle or hot running down the highway or both?

Any specs on the fans?

Are you running an alternator?
Electric water pump ….first thing I think of is a drag car.
Those fans are probably ineffective unless they are
Spal.
I asked about the alternator because fans and the electric pump along with everything else may be pulling more power than you have.
Tune plays a role , timing, vacuum advance , air fuel.
The more information you provide, the better the chance of a solution.

Not me….i just know how to provide information to achieve a goal 👍🏼

While E fans do draw a lot (20--30 amps per), EWP about 7 amps. Have had my Meziere EWP on for 20 years and 100k mi on another car with dual EL fans (stock to the car), never a cooling issue

Op's issue "may" be not enough fan but yes his alternator and wiring need to be capable of running it

OP, has your operating temps always been on high side?

idle, stop & go traffic or at speed cooling temp high??
