I purchased some used OEM RS tail lights but it appears someone glued the stainless trim to the lens at one point and made a mess of things. I was able to pull off the stainless trim with no damage and the lenses are in real nice shape. My questions are, what is the best way to remove glue from the tabs the stainless trim attaches to? It appears to be contact cement. Once cleaned up, what is the Best way to remove-attach stainless trim to lens?

I let it soak overnight with WD40. Didn't loosen it up

If it's hard as in not soft, you'll have to simply use tools in your arsenal and get it off.

Scrape it off as John said enough to get the stainless back on, with JB Weld. I would shoot some 2K clear on them to rid of the scratches before you attach the chrome. Scuff before applying clear, I do headlight and tailights that way all the time, the newer plastic fogged up headlights, just did a 05 Corvette.
