Hello I just recently purchased a 1968 Camaro- have been working to correct a lot of small issues.

I replaced the hinges on both doors, in the process of the door hinge alignment i realized I need to shift the Drivers side front fender forward to allow me room to adjust the drivers door forward. I have watched a ton of you tube videos but cant find what the minimum bolts I need to loosen to allow me to slide the fender forward and shim.

I found the cowl bolt, bolt near the hinges, and the front 2 fender bolts. (do i need to loosen the inner fender bolts or will that move with the fender?) with all these loosened the fender is still very solid.

Does anyone have a diagram, guide, or pictures they can please share.

Thanks
rob

Post some pics. Replacing hinges should not require moving the fender imo.

it wasn't aligned right in the first place- the rear of the door is basically hitting the rear quarter, and the front of the door only has a small gap. it was like this before i replaced the hinges. the passanger side is good before and after hinge replacement

I’d loosen all of the fender bolts to shift it, including the three inner fender to brace bolts. There’s the cowl bolt that drops in vertically, another bolt below it that inserts horizontally and controls the “front /back” alignment, the bolt by the hinges, two bolts on the bottom behind the front wheel, the two at upper rad core, plus two going into the lower rad core support at an angle. You might want to move the battery and its tray to facilitate the alignment. You might need to realign the hood and the header panel, depending on how far you intend to shift the fender.

thanks, are the inner fender to brace bolts are those the ones that connect fender to inner fender or inner fender to something else?

I really appreciate it.

Red circles show the inner fender bolt locations. It is easier to remove the tire to access them.

The front of the fender is bolted to the radiator support. There could be several bolts. This is a 1969 Firebird. It is the same but different.

You did not mention the bolt at the bottom of the fender.

It's elementary. Loosen all bolts that retain and hinder adjustment. There's people on sites that have been working on cars for fifty years, had restoration shops and owned dozens of these cars. They still could not figure out how to align a fender. Weird.
