67 deluxe seats vs 68 deluxe

Can a set of 68 deluxe seats, front and back, be used for restoring to make
a set of 67 deluxe seats? Will the foam be the same for 67 vs. 68? I have a set of
68 deluxe seats that need recovered, have material, but sold project. Now, I have
a 67 project and need deluxe seats. So, will the 67 deluxe material fit onto the
68 deluxe seats?

Is the seat foam different from standard seats to deluxe seats, or is it just the deluxe material and extra padding that makes the seat material a deluxe seat?

I never redone seats, and thought I would give it a try.

Looking at vendor websites... looks like seats, springs, frames are interchangeable. Only difference is the covering.. Im sure there are other on here that know way more than me that might chime in...

All hardware is the same. Deluxe foam and covers are different. Standard foam and covers are the same and are different than deluxe.

Thanks all. I knew the material was different. But never torn into the foam, to see
if it was. I heard it was, but wasnt sure. Any suggestions on who to buy the tools from to
try and recover a set??

To my ?memory? 67 deluxe was a short rear seat, had arm rests, 68 was full width?

Good catch John...I wasn't thinking about rear seats at all in my previous reply. Regarding the use of armrest and narrow rear seats from CRG.....http://camaros.org/interior.shtml#RearArmrests

The rear seat doesn't have molded foam like the buckets. All covers should interchange if they're the same length.

Just need a good pair of wire cutters and hog ring pliers. There's a pic in this link to ebay showing the pliers got. There are better quality I'm sure, but they worked fine for me. Probably could do a couple dozen more buckets yet.

Just order the '68 DLX convertible hides so they'll fit your narrow '67 DLX back seat.

Order the '68 DLX foam for your front seats and you should be ready to start hog ringing till the cows come home.

I have 68 deluxe needing upholstered seat frames w/short rear seat, and want to put on 67 deluxe seat covers.

So, Garth, all I need to do is buy 67 deluxe seat covers right? and they should go on
and fit well on the 68 deluxe foam seats? I know about the different size back seats.

Check with the vendor first. I think the deluxe foam is probably different.

Probably due for new foam anyway.....
