I think I already know the answer to this one...'69s maybe? I have noticed on Fleabay that '69s normally have the largest numbers of cars for sale, usually followed by '67s, then '68s (sometimes there are more '68s than '67s, but not normally). There are always more '69s than either of the other two years. Thoughts anyone?

Total production numbers for all three years:

1967- 220,906

1968- 235,147

1969- 243,085

It would make sense that there would be more 1969's listed simply because they made more. Why it appears there are more 1967's listed than 1968's I have no idea. Maybe for whatever reasons more 1967's have survived than '68's.

The 69 is the darling of the triad, but nothing wrong with being the redheaded step child 68, or the big deal big brother 67. You give me a set of keys to any of them and I'd be happy.

It is also crazy how many 69's are listed for 35k plus. I go on Fleabay just to see that blonde posing in front of all the 1st gens.
OMG...that chick is HOT (I do the same thing...a guilty pleasure). I see that guy (out of Lenoir City, TN) always has a lot of 1st Gens...esp '69s. Is he a reputable dealer who sells real SSs and Z28s? I see 1st Gens going much higher as the years fly by...some '69 Zs are bumping against 100k.

Man, if there were that many made where the heck are they all. That's a total of 699,138 total, and if they were all still in the 50 states that would be around 13,982.7 per state. Rarely do I ever see another 69 Camaro where I live let alone 13,982.7. As small as Delaware is and even Rhode Island for that matter, you wouldn't be able to swing a cat without hit one.

68s are great they are still kept in the barn for the future:D
thats because they arent worth dragging out of the barn :D

OK since we cant count them hiding in garages lets take them off the list as we go:
I have parted out 1 69 I have also seen 2 69's in bone yards that will not see the road again now 243,082 left
and 1 67 leaving 220,905 remaining

if everyone posts up we can figure this out!

- kinda like 99 bottles of beer on the wall?

Well, one of the missing Rhode Island '68s is on my garage...sold new at Webber Chevrolet in West Warwick. Pretty rusty after 17 years of New England driving and 25 years of sitting under a carport in Newburgh, NY...not much better than the Lake '69 car.

My cousin crashed his 69 SS/RS in 1970. I bought a 69 SS 396 in 1973, blew the engine in 1974 and drove it to the bone yard.

I also had a 67 that I parted for 2 other 67's and had the shell taken to the yard.

That accounts for 2 more 69's and a 67.

Not necessarily lol... Do you think they'd just crush a 5 yr old car with a blown motor? Especially an SS396 that was as popular as it was back then? I'm trying to be the optimist... It makes me want to puke when I think of guys doing that. If it just had a blown engine, they probably took the day to rebuild it and throw it back together.
