Got a question about mirrors, I bought some off Classic Industries, I went with Adjustable Driver side and the more exspensive (supposidly orginal design ribbed passanger mirror), I know they didn't come with passanger, but figured the design was supposidly factory with the rib and wanted to match the adjustable mirror wihich was also supposidly factory correct.

However when I got my order Friday, they are night and day.
The adjustable mirror has no rib and base a sharp point, the ribbed pass. side has the rib, but more rounded base tip.

Would have the cheaper repo non ribbed mirror match the driver adjust. mirror better?

How can base designs be so off, if they both are Factory orginal designs?

I checked our stock as well as an assembly manual pages and found the following:

The adjustable / remote mirror reproduction from OER does have a much more pointed tip design on the base and the versus the standard LH / RH mirrors (longer, skinnier and square-style ends). It also is non-ribbed; the original assembly manual page for option D33 (remote mirror) makes it look like the mirror should be ribbed, but it does match on the base pointed tip design. I can't say with 100% certainty if it should be ribbed or not based on the illustration page only.

We sell two versions of the standard (non-remote) LH / RH mirrors; the cheaper replacement versions are clean with no ribbing; the US made version has convex glass for better viewing on the RH side, better chrome and does have the ribbing.
The information I have doesn't list an option code for a RH mirror from the factory, but does say there were options that could be done at the dealership, like a RH mirror!

Hope that helps!

There was no factory passenger side mirror for Camaros in 1968. So...how can you match something that does not exist?

Mirrors were not the same across all body styles.

Yeah, I know it wasn't a stock item as I stated on my first post, but I still figured if ya are gonna repop and item as an option, you would at least make it match the stock item.
Thanks Derek for the info, it's not a huge deal and no one would proably see it unless the took a picture of one side and compared it to the other, but I figured by going to the more exspensive factory style, they would have matched, I was going of Classic Industries description ss the photos really didn't show.

It does. The base of the original manual outside rear view mirror (factory installed driver side or dealer installed passenger side) had the rib. The original remote outside rear view mirror didn't, and it was pointed. So if the original owner wanted the remote mirror and a passenger side mirror, you would have a mismatch of the base. You would also have an incorrect remote mirror if you got a repop because the last time I checked, they didn't have the drain holes.

However, there are also repop passenger side mirrors out there without the rib, so you can get one of these if you want.

Thanks Ed, that's what is frustrating, I bought the pass mirror with the rib because I thought the remote mirror would have the rib as well due to description saying it was designed like original. Guess I should have done my homework better. Of course in my defense, before I placed the order online, I called Classic Industries and asked the salesman/tech which one would match the remote mirror, he said the original ribbed one would, as the remote mirror was made to match original design.
So now, if I decide to return our exchange, I'm out shipping three times, one to them, plus back to me again, and when I ordered, it was the 25% sale, so now unless I wait for another sale and order, I'm back to full price as well.
I wish these sales/tech people knew their stuff better (I take some of the blame, as Ed knew this, but I didn't, thus the call to thier sales team before order.)
