All the stuff we are talking about mostly just bolts to the top of the engine (heads, intake, carb, headers, distributor).

The cam change is a little trickier to swap out (especially if you have AC), but it mostly involves removing everything that has a belt on it at the front of the engine (water pump, fan, crank pulley, alternator, PS pump) and the radiator. The oil pan needs to be dropped/loosened so the timing chain cover can be pulled. Pull the timing chain, extract the lifters and yank the cam out the front of the engine where the radiator used to be.

There are lots of books available, but most contemporary ones have little or nothing to say about small cube engines like 327s. First use the search forums function above and search 327 builds. There have been many good threads over the years. or Vortec heads and read up on those.

Several others have referenced the 'Vortec' heads, and I also think that's your best bet for your engine (in terms of power/torque/cost). Lots of fairly late model trucks had Vortec heads, and thus are not super expensive. Get ones with low miles and you won't have to rebuild them (hopefully).

Ok couple questions. How old are you ? How long have you been driving ?
Your uncle may seem unwilling to help because of these things. Also most mechanics are unwilling to help in projects unless they are paid. They usually end up doing most of the work and shy away from helping out on others projects. So you are going to have to find all the parts yourself with our help. This will show your uncle you are serious. Then assure him the only help you will need is verbal direction and what tools you need to buy to get started.
As for heads do a search here for "327 275 horse heads" and" 327 275 horse intake and carb". Its time to do a little reading. Also Camaro research group CRG is another source of info. There are lots of threads here for what you are looking for. Headers depends on whether you have power steering or not. As for the Cam do search for "327 cam upgrade" . The more you read the more sense it will all make.

Shouldnt be too hard to squeeze more power out of it. A hot roller cam and some aftermarket cylinder heads are a good start. A set of heads can get expensive, into the 1000-2000$ range, but they can offer alot in terms of upgraded performance. I'm building a 350 small block for a '67 and I looked online to see what parts people have used for a 350 to create more power. You should look to see the formulas that people have already used and try to get similar or identical parts. This applies mostly to intake manifolds and heads, as those are the least measurable parts and are mostly just trial and error to see what works best.

You don't need a roller cam setup (roller lifters, springs, cam, distributor gear, pushrods, etc.) and all the elevated cost for what you are attempting.

A regular flat tappet cam will do fine.

You also don't need to spend a lot on heads, intake or carburation. There are plenty 202/160 heads available that will flow plenty for your power goal. There are countless high rise intakes and carbs to choose from.

350HP from a 327 isn't rocket science and needn't be a budget buster.

from what the guys tell u on here is very good advice. From someone on a budget do a little at a time I did and if u don't know don't be scared to ask their's a lot of guys on here who are pretty smart and Welcome lov to see another gearhead.
