I have the Fischer body manual but it just shows where the parts go and not really the order or how to do it. I could use some pointers. Should the glass be installed with the window felt in or out or does it matter? Can't get the glass into the opening with all the rollers and brackets that are attached to the glass. Help please.

It's been a while, but IIRC, no window felts or anything else that narrows the window channel at the top of the door. I installed the regulator and bolted it loosely to the door. The window goes in, again IIRC, at a sharp angle (leaned toward the interior side of the door) to get the rollers in, then straighten it more vertically to get it into the door. You may have to unbolt the regulator to get the window guides onto the channels in the regulator.

Thanks. Got the glass in, but having trouble getting it to roll up without binding. Here is the height at it's peak. It is tight against the inner felt bumpers. I have added some pics of where everything is currently set as far as adjustment. Does anyone have pictures of where their channel settings are?

I am getting it figured out but I have one other question. In the rear vertical track there is a scewed rectangular rubber piece that slides in the track and has a flat nub on the back of it. What is it for? Also here is my fittment so far. There is about a 1/16" gap in the front upper corner. The rest of the glass is flush with the top. Anyway to solve this? Here are pics.

Installation of quarter windows - 69. Help

Is there an easy way to install these? Should the track be mounted in place? How far should the studs be screwed in roughly? Can't get the middle roller started. By the time I get enough room to manuever the glass it is then to far into the panel. If you have found a proven way to install these please help us all. Thanks. Maybe make a sticky of it.

I don't know if 67's and 68's would be the same as my 69 but here is what I found to work for me with just one set of hands. First off having regulators and tracks installed bolted up did not work for me. Put your regulator in, you can bolt it up for the time being to keep it out of the way but you will have to unbolt it later. The window track have the two top studs about a half inch or so from bottoming out. And just mount those two into the lower leg of the 7 or backward 7 of the body. I did not have the lower stud in it's correct location. I then slid the glass into the body. You will have to help guide the center roller into the center channel first. Then line the outer two rollers with the outer groove. The glass once everything is lined up should slide up and down the channel. If you bolted up the regultor you will now have to unbolt it. So that you can get the regulator roller into the rear quarter window channel/sash. Once you've done that bolt the regulator into place and make sure the lower stud is in it's correct location. The studs will all have to be adjusted for proper function. It will be trial and error. After going out to the garage and checking on stud length. It looks like like the upper front stud (closest to the door) is about a inch. Upper rear stud is maybe a half inch at best. The lower stud is a good inch or more. Of course you will have the adjust these for proper fitment but it will give you an idea. After you get things lined up and adjusted give the front and rear glass the dollar test. Take a dollar bill and lay it over the front of the side glass and shut the door. Slowly pull the dollar out. You should a good drag on it. Do the same for the rear part of the side glass. Also do it between the front and rear glass. At the the top in between front and rear glass. And at the bottom of the front and rear glass. Make adjustments accordingly. And retest. Well I'm done with one side. Maybe I'll add pictures later.

I know this is old, but it's exactly what I've been searching for the past hour, so glad I found it. I agree with Ted, great drawing of the parts in the Fisher manual, but no instructions on how to actually install the glass.
Also, I don't see any mention of "anti-rattle plates" at all...
I have the regulators loosely attached right now. Will bolt up the front and rear guides loosely as well, and then go from there based on Ted's follow on post.

Go to you yube and google it. There is a guy that shows how to do it on a fire bird. I think if you google you will find him under scared shiftless. He is working on a green 69 if I recall.

Jim,

Check your regulator before installing the glass, does it roll from the top to the bottom with out dragging or binding? If not long bolts are installed in the wrong locations and are binding on the regulator. Install the outside fuzzy guides and door length fuzzy before installation, trust me on this. Doors removed from the car, inside of the door facing up is the easiest way to install door latches, outside handles, regulators and glass in this order.

If everything is working properly this is how I installed '69 door glass:

1. Remove the two top tracks bump stops,

2. Install the outside felt guides and door felts.

3. Roll the regulator assembly so the glass attachment rail is at the very bottom of its travel,

4. Back off the track bolts and letting everything hang loosely, leaving the bolts in place (do not remove)

** (if doors are installed: drop a piece of 6" long 2X4 in the bottom of the door, you'll see why in a moment)

5. With the glass tilted down in the front and up at the rear, guide the front track wheel into the opening approximately 6" (+ -) to the rear of the track mounts at the top of the door,

6. Work the wheel carefully to the front track, lowering the rear of the glass at the same time, doing this all while using the outside window fuzzy and guides as your support,

7. When the front wheel is placed, lower the rear wheel and set it in it's track,

8. Carefully lower the glass down light force on the glass to the fussy by hand until you can attach it to the rail of the regulator,

** (if the door is installed place 2x4 under the glass to support it until you can situate your self in such a manner to safely maneuver the glass to the regulator rail and place nuts from the inside of the door)

9. Once the glass is attached to the rail tighten the nuts, snug the track bolts then roll the window up assisting it past the top of the door until you can re install the front and rear stops,

10. Install your top inside window guides hooking the inner to the door...

Hope this helps,
Rick

Thanks for more details.

Keith, will definitely check out the video when I get a chance.
