I'm rebuilding my front suspension while the car is apart getting the body work done. On my car, the upper A-Arms are held on by bolts, but is this correct? Shouldn't it be a stud?

Using bolts worked just fine, so I can always do that, but this time around I'm getting a set of Detroit Speed tubular A-arms with the camber tuning bushings. So if there is a stud, that sure would make changing the bushings easier.

I've already checked in my Year One and Classic Industries catalog, but neither had the part listed that I could find.

Help.

If you are talking about the type of crosshaft end bolts that retain the upper A arm bushings.

Bolts are the way GM did them, I've seen some 69's with nuts and 70 up all use nuts.

Most aftermarket bushings need the nut type attachment. The bolt type retainer will unscrew.

The DSE upper arms come with crosshaft so you will have nuts on that allready.

No actually I'm talking about the studs that hold the cross shafts to the frame. Year One and Classic didn't list them in their catalogs, but Rick's First Gen did, so I ordered them from there.

Those bolts are actually pressed in, like wheel studs. Don't turn the bolt while your removing the arms. You're better off knocking them out if you need the clearance. Then you'll see the knurl marks near the cap that keeps them from spinning.

they are cheap enough- it's easiest just to go to GM and get the right parts. when i got mine last winter, the dealer did a search on the computer and found them at another dealership, and had them to me the next day.
