thanks guys , Keith , thats pretty much what i was wondering ..and that makes the most sence .
Brent ...dont get me wrong , i wasnt implying anything or trying to offend you...i just found it funny / ironic...your post said " FOR THE RECORD " with a craigslist ad...i didnt know if it was yours , or what the intent was , to sell , to make aware it was out there ......there wasnt a BEWARE warning .
like i said , im not interested in doing anything that would get me in trouble .and my conscience wouldnt allow me to anyways.....i would get caught in a heartbeat if i did ...a good 75% of my friends here are cops = WORKING AND RETIRED.!
Im even working on a friends 69 out of KY that retired from the force in CA but now works in Law enforcement in KY...hes a member here too.
how ever the cars are Built . restored , titled ...varies from state to state im sure...some states dont even require a title after certian years ( so im told ) just a registration..
i have bought a couple like that when in Pigeon Forge TN at the GRAND ROD RUN and with a Bill of sale and a police check , had no problems at the BMV getting a new title issued.
ive parted out a lot of camaros over the years and here , you cant even take a car to the junk yard with out a title....
i was just curious as to what extent "rebuilding " a car still remained legal with the attached titile.
as far as the ETHICAL issue ...i have built a number of Yenko n COPO tribute / clones , recreations , what ever they are called these days and when i sell one of those , I INSIST that they sign a letter that they are aware that they are NOT buying the REAL DEAL but a look a like....TO COVER MY BACK SIDE.
That even saved me back side once because the dealer in MI sold one of mine as THE REAL DEAL...and the new owner contacted me saying it was a fake and he was going to take me to court for fraud... well , i envited him over and showed him the letter SIGNED by the dealer that bought it from me , so he went after the dealer...
Ive built a lot of cars over the years ...the one thing i do is to take full series of pics start to finish so the new owner hads a book to see what was done and how it was done ...
The thing is ..MOST of these cars built today ( when they go to the extreme ) usually end up BETTER than fatory in many aspects ,... fit , finish , so on ...either way , it all comes down to buyer beware and due dilligence when BUYING a car.
